Ok, I believe the Apex N1 universal muffler is 2.25 inches, so it should be alright to just get the muffler welded onto the stock piping?

Our stock piping is 2". If it were 2.25 inches then the FWD GST cat back would not be an upgrade. Anyhow the muffler should still be able to be welded on the stock piping.

Any Apexi muffler with a 60mm inlet can be welded onto the stock piping. I just had my N1 put on today.
