31000, Car wont run maybe TPS
Posted by mitsudsr, Aug-25-02 10:09 AM
Ok, well I cant get my car to stay running. I changed my plugs and they where pretty damn dark. I have a TPS sensor CEL, would this cause the car not to start? When It does start it will idle ok but a little rough but when I try to drive I only get about 100 feet. Then there is a complete loss of power. I hit the gas and nothing happens the car just bogs down and then dies and will not restart. Now I know I must be getting a bad connection at the ECU cause all of my CEL are coming from the top plug which is broken. I am going to try to get a new plug from satan tomarrow then I am going to try to get a TPS from a junk yard if they have an Eclipse. Also what is the CEL code for one long steady flash then seven short ones? I am completely clueless no one arround here has any clue to what is wrong. I am in a jam here I need some real help. If any one has any clue it will realy help out.
Thanks,
Patrick

If you have a TPS CEL, then it "could" and then not idle well. I guess if the thing was completely shot, then yes it wouldn't start. I'd spend the 65-70 bucks and get a new one, and not one from a yard.

Ok if they are that cheap I will just buy a new one. How about that CEL code, what is one long one fallowed by seven short ones? What does one long light stand for. I just think that it may be my ECU plug because it seems strage that all at once I got a map sensor, tps, and lean codes plus the long and seven short one that I dont know what it is. I guess I will just try the tps and hope that works.
Thanks for the help,
Patrick
