how often should you get your tranny flushed and inspected? i have a 5-speed.

Change it yourself. You have it easy compared to the AT guys. You have a drain plug- much like changing the oil. ATs have a sealed pan and it was a messy changing the fluid. I'm sure you should change it every 30000 miles.

Ya dude do it yourself I just did it this weekend since I went over 30,000 a few weeks ago. Just buy 2 or 3 qts of mt fluid and a the fluid tube that will make it easier. The tranny only takes in 2.1 quarts.

This is the only fluid I haven't done before, and my chilton's doesn't really explain it. I just went over 32,000. Where is the drain bolt, is there a certain type of mt fluid that's preferred, and how many ft-lbs do you retorque the bolt to? TIA

I have a drain plug and I'm AT.:)
But when I change the filter, That bitch has to come off.:nono

Damn! I wish i had a drain plug......what year do you have? They really screwed us with these 95s....


EZ- look at your Chilton's more closely- there are pics of the MT drain plug...also I'm sure they tell you what the torque specs are also if you read their write up cuz they did with the AT section.

I put my plug in myself. I can't remember where I ordered it from. I might remember later, but you have to drill your own hole and then put in the plug and the gaskets etc. I like to change my filter about as often as I do my fluid, so it's not that much of an improvement.
