My 98' Eclipse has for the most part always averaged about 245 miles to a tank from city driving, and about 300 miles from highway driving. I'm trying to determine is this number I'm getting normal, or is it time to replace my O2 sensor. I've been getting a CEL on and off for the past 2 months, and when I took it to Autozone to get them to check what code it was, the light was off, and they said they can only do it when the light is on? I thought the ECU held the code so that it could be checked anytime. Anyway, I'm now getting black scoring on my plugs, so I'm definately burning rich, and having a hard time determining my CEL. Anyone know how I can get the CEL checked for a low price?

I used to get about 350 when I was NA. Now I have no clue since the rebuild I havent tested it out.

Highway I have always gotten around 400-420 or so, but that is all highway, not sure about city

I have a heavy foot, and have always only gotten 245 miles (city driving) on average. I bought my car as a demo model from the dealer, and it had 4K miles on it already. I never had it checked out, and always just thought the car was a gas gussler. Now that I'm getting this CEL, I'm trying to determine if I should have been getting more miles all along or not. Anyone else that is NA have mileage averages?

When i was NA i would get over 425 miles on a tank all highway, i could make it from my house in cerritos to my girlfriend's family's house in oakland in one tank. Now that I am turbo, i get like approximately 250-300 miles per tank, my car is tuned a little rich so i bet i could get more, but this is what i am currently getting.

Yeah, I think that maybe my O2 is screwy then. Thats probably what my CEL has been trying to tell me. Can the codes be checked when the CEL is off? My CEL goes on and off intermittently, so it's most likely some sort of emissions code I assume. I want to get it checked without taking it to SATAN.

I get about 325-350 a tank, mix highway/city driving. And you guys can guess how i drive it, i'm sure :-)

I am lucky to get 200 a tank, I have 1/4 tank right now, and have went 129 miles ;-) You can tell everyone around here hates when they see me comin' ;-)

Yup, it is my O2 sensor. I went to a different Autozone, and got my CEL diagnosed. Thanks for the help guys.

I made it from Columbus, OH to Newark, DE (~480 miles) on one tank. And the gas light wasn't on. But usually like 350.

i get anywhere from 275-400 normal ? 400 being highway
275 being fri and sat night+city driving

The most city miles i got was 368 and the light came on. I usually get at least 340-350 city, and the most highway miles were 460 and the light came on.

average for me is 350-400 with a mix of city and freeway
