Damn man, I did compression tests and eveyrthing... 200/200/120/200... as if that isnt bad enough my spark plugs which are a month old are fried so theres something up there, and my B coil pack is toasted, the ends are pure black, tried a wire brush to clean the corrososion but no luck. And my Second gear synchro is out whih is always fun. I didnt think it was that bad until today, when I lost to my girlfrineds 2001 RS AUTOMATIC. That was rough, off the line i usually get a car, and continue gaining hard through the end, but she kept even until 60, then slowly pulled, pissed me off... What does everyone recommend doing, taking it back to my warranty place and getting all stock parts replaced, so its basically a new engine, or should i go ahead and buy the howell bottom end kit, keep in mine im a broke ass college student, but I have enough saved up for whatever.

Well, I would say replace them with stock parts. Take it from someone who knows. Im doing everything i always wanted to do to my car and it is damn expensive. For the price of the howell kit, timing belt accessories, gaskets etc you are better off just buying a shortblock from autozone or something. Last I knew it was only $2300 for a short block. Just my 2 cents. Oh, maybe you should take it easy on your car eh? Later

Hey man, i say go to the warrenty people and see what they say, if they can give you the amount for the stock pistons and rods, and you just pay the extra it would cost you to get the upgrade, and you won't have to pay for labor, or atleast try to get the labor, later

Why pay 2300 for a stock short block when you can get a uilt one from Howell for cheaper or get the stroker for the same price???
