3049, smoked by an acura now what?
Posted by 99_GS, Jun-09-01 05:19 PM
I am 99% it was a turbo since the way he easily pulled up on me the easily pulled away. I didn't think to turn the stereo down to listen.. Now my question is what can I do so I can at least keep a little respect. The only thing I have done on my engine now is CAI and a greddy Evo. in the 6 month of having my car most of the money has gone into suspension, Strut, 5 way adjust, springs and was going to top it off with some 18" but now I think I am going to put that into the engine rather then wheels.. I am so far planning on pulley, Plugs and wire, and headers short shifter. I am not going NOS and am planning on Turbo but that is 3 to 4 years away or depending on when I hit 65 or 70K and will do an engine swap. So anything else I am forgeting and what stages should I do everything. Also for headers should it be like 4-2-1?

I'm sure your gonna say because it's bad for the engine, but what is your reason for not wanting to juice it? If your worried about your engine then you shouldn't do anything to it because your engine could let go at anytime, gas or not. Trust me when I say that NOS, when used right, is the best bang for the buck that you can buy...ANYWHERE! 50-150hp at the touch of a button sounds pretty good to me. I gassed for over a year and never had any problems due to it. Hell I gassed for over a year and then turbo'ed the same engine (no internal work at all) for another year and never had any problems. It's just as safe as anything else you can do to your car when used right and tuned right. I'm starting to ramble so I will quit, but think about it.

Hey man,

Too keep up with a turbo honda (or anything else) ur gonna need more than I/H/E/P... i have all those and i'll only keep up GSRs. For the amount of turbo, u might want to consider NOS for about 4-500 for system that will give u up to 75hp. that will let u run mid-low 14s! but if u want turbo... by all means go for it!

btw for headers i suggest greddy or brospeed... i have the greddy's and they really pull past 5500rpms... the brospeed might help power band as they are 4-2-1 i think.

Oh yea... u know i be pimpin!

Those acuras are really fast. The GS-R comes with 170hp stock and is lighter than our car. Only thing that wil make you beat an acura GS-R is forced induction by either NOS or turbo!!

Thanks guys.. I may have to do that.. Go NOS till I go turbo.. Guess I have to head on overe to the NOS forum. I guess I shouldn't feel so bad but there is nothing like having your ass handed to you to make you humble.

don't sweat it, it's happened to us all. It won't stop after you gas it either, there's always someone faster.

For a thousand more, you could go Stage 1 turbo kit, then whey you get the money later, get a stage 2. But NOS is your best bet, for the price.

...with BLKOUT and the others. Get the NOS and use it safely. If you decide to get headers get 4-1 either Hotshot or Greddy. I've used both. The greddy's look GOOD with their SS finish and my Hotshots are flat grey. With only some mild boltons for the typical RS you will keep up with the GS-R's. I've got some decent engine work and can edge them out especially after 80mph in the top 3rd.
