I was looking at getting an underdrive pulley can anyone tell what are the best brands what I can expect from that. Also over the winter I am going to put a stage one turbo in. Now I have been told that having an underdrive pulley with a turbo can hurt the engine is that true??

The best UDP for our cars is the AFX. You can get it at ptuning.com. On an NA car, it does wonders I've heard. But on a turbo car, it's equivalent to about 1 psi of boost increase. I don't wanna shell out 160 bucks, when I can just turn a boost controller up 1 psi and yield about the same amount. Well, my friend is selling me his for 100, so I'm really really considering that.

Well yeah once you go turbo it wont feel like that much of an increase. But if you get it while you are NT is a noticeable difference. Just think of this way...if you put it on your car now thats just that much more power you will have when you go turbo. Besides for the money the UDP is an excellent power adder. I say get it.

Well one thing that I would consider with a udp on a turbo car is this. And correct me if I'm wrong but the udp not only adds a few HP but it also makes you rev faster. Since the pulley is smaller it lets the crank rev up faster witch in turn gets you to your boost faster. I could be really wrong here but the butt Dyno told me when N/A that my car got through the revs faster. Haven't done much reasearch into the how's and why's of how the UDP works so please tell me if I'm way off base here.

I think it has to do with both the lightened pulley and the additional power. Just look at how fast your car will go through the gears being turbo. Im sure it doesnt even compare to how long it took while still NA.

I went with the Unorthodox Racing pulley. I don't know why most don't. But regardless I did notice the full boost about 500rpm quicker instead of around 4k more now its around 3500. Of course now I got to fix the squeek of the belts. Help?

The reason why we go with the AFX pulley instead of the orthodox is because it is 30% underdrive hwile the orthodox is only 20%. ANd you need to retighten your belts about a week or two after you install the pulley. The belts will stretch slightly and cause the squeek.

I didnt think it was worht it to me...Car runs better with the stock pulley...thats just me tho
