You may also want to consider getting some stronger head studs. Hahn sells ARP head studs for our cars for $140.
Where are you ordering all this stuff from? What prices are you getting?

Well, that really sucks that Howell won't let you buy the kit without the Total Seal rings. The guy I talked to didn't make it sound like it was anything special to sell the kit without them.
On the other hand, Dave_FL just rebuilt his engine and he did use the Total Seal rings, and he said they are fine. But I guess it's personal preference. I've heard that Total Seal rings are kinda hit and miss in our engines, not sure why though.
Anyway, when you get a price on the other stuff: gaskets, water pump, etc., let me know what your price is on them, and if I got them for a better price I'll let you know where I bought everything.

>do i need all of this and or do i need more? >tensioner - no, unless you have hi miles or smth >tensioner pulley - no. (get 2 ps pulleys) >water pump - optional. >ps and ac belt - yes. >alternator belt - is there one? >timing belt - yes >mopar complete head gasket set - no, but makes it easy! >mopar oil pan gasket set including rear main seal? - no, comes with howell bottom end kit
Howell is bitchy about how they absolutely CANNOT seperate those totalseal rings, and it sux. They even shipped me the WRONG size rings, and in different boxes, so it's not like it's a shelved sealed kit. Then when I sent them back, I asked to get the hastings rings instead (cheaper) and they woudn't even let me do it then! Shipping JUST the rings, and it's still "NOPE. CANT SEPERATE." wtf?!

I have the total seal rings and they are fine. I love them. I get ZERO blow by at 15 psi. Not a drop!!! I also talked to Gary about this rumor that the total seal rings are shitty and he explained to me that they are great rings and not to worry about it. Do you think a more expensive ring is going to be worse than a cheaper ring. I dont think so.

yeah I heard that total seals are bad but speedracer21 told me they are the shit and we'll just have to find out when I pop dem in.
from reading earlier posts I heard you can use two idler pulleys and just reuse the bracket for the tensioner pulley cuz the pulley is the same. Looks like your list is correct. Head bolts don't cost that much also like 12 bux or something at a dodge dealer.

I think thats crazy they wont seperate their kits anymore... If I was in the market for that setup, and i wanted to use JE rings instead, i'd just buy everything elsewhere, not like they care... but if enough people were like that, then they would get the hint... i mean... they sell je pistons... why not offer je rings that were designed for their pistons?

Well, I decided to go ahead and purchase the Total Seal Rings. I've heard people go both ways with those, but I've heard more good than bad. Especially since, they've claified and only made one ring, the top one, "totally sealed."

hey guys, thanks for the info... to me its odd je piston but no je rings? hehe i might go with totalseal rings if im tight on money.. i heard it depends how its installed? i thought you can only install it one way?... if i got the extra cash i rather buy everything separate, get the crower rods, je pistons and rings from hrc but thats going to be expensive if i go that way...
