30102, AFX Underdrive pulley.... Posted by Turbo420A, Aug-13-02 04:16 PM
I see that a bunch of DSM members are using this underdrive pulley, my motor is out of the car currently and was just wondering if everyone's happy with the result and what type of a diff I should expect from installing one on my 420A. Thanks!

Well, it helps low end torque and also allows you to rev a little quicker. Its a great mod to have. Buy it...you'll be happy.

I would say that it is definitely worth the 160. The power gain is kind of deceptive though, it improves power throughout the entire powerband and is difficult to feel at first, atleast for me. I mean I could tell that it was pulling harder, but it wasnt until I rode around in it for a while that I could really feel the difference. It makes the car feel like it has a slightly larger engine in it, that should give you an idea of how it feels.

get it you will not regret it it is better than getting a header and defenatly worth the 160 i felt a huge difference on my car it revs faster and it feel like a new car i step on it while at crusing speeds and you would feel a slight pull a thing that could not do before the pulley get it

I love the pulley, I wouldn't trade it. Power is well worth the price.

I have 2 12" subs with 270 watts rms to each, and have no problems.

only get a cap if your lights are dimmin as the bass hitz....
http://seangordon1.tripod.com for an install writeup...(under mods)
my experience is that i have never messed w/my alt belt since the install... i did shred my p/s a/c belt racin in the top of third w/kory and hades omega back in the day ;-) so i used a 4g63 alt belt to run my p/s to get me back to vegas comfortably....
my car did feel a lil lighter for the first 25-50 miles, and then i got used to it... but like others will say, it helps throughout the rpm band, and reawakens some of the low end torque lost by other mods...
w/a turbo application tho, you are making so much power already, it may not be as noticed, but it could definately gain a lil more w/turbo application as compared to the 8-12 whp gain an n/t 420a sees....
good luck
