My car is a 97 and I have a modular clutch of course. I am debating between a modular clutchmasters stage 3 or a nonmodular stage 3 with lightened flywheel.

My question is how much does the clutchmasters modular flywheel weigh? Is it even close to the weight of a lightened flywheel or is it near a stock weight? (you would think for that price it would be lighter than stock)


Are there any benefits at all staying with a modular setup?


I know when the disc wears out on a nonmodular the cost will be much less to replace and the benefits of a lightened wheel is great.

Any info on lightened flywheel weights compared to modular flywheel weights will be appreciated?


I also have access to a stock nonmodular flywheel out of a 95 model. I am considering getting it resurfaced and using it with a CM stage three clutch. This is only if the weights are even close to aftermarket ones. I have been told that our stock ones do not weigh that much, but cannot get actual weights(within a pound or so).

well i have a stage one modular clutch and its weighs 20lbs which is the same as the stock clutch that was on my 95 eclipse, i think if you go for the stage three it will still weigh the same the only difference will be the copmound that the clutch disk is made off you will, of course, get better grip. However i have been told that stage three and four dont last very long and its not worth the money unless your stage two or more on your turbo setup..
I to contemplated the thought of getting a litghted clutchmaster flywheel and switching from modular to nonmodular clutch wich i think i saw a special for a dual centerforce clutch and a 6lbs lightend flywheel for 600 bucks, not bad. again i did not go that route because didnt have enough money. i think that the flywheel and modular clutch on stock eclipses weighs about 30lbs and if you go with the clutch masters flywheel you should be around 12lbs, which will yield to a higher reving car.

The Fidanza modular and non-modular lightened flywheels are rebuildable (replaceable friction surface) and accept non-modular style clutches. This is the route I plan to go when I upgrade.

Generally I think modular is lighter vs. non-modular, but when upgrading etc... all things change.

ok, i need a final answer, im a 96. am i non-mod or mod? non-mod can have the flywheel changed correct? modular cant change the flywheel? if that is true then the person who named those clutches should be shot.

you are modular from what i know of..modular clutches cant have the flywheel rebuilt because it is machined press to the clutch pressure plate and disk ..a nonmodular clutch car has three pieces to it the flywheel, the disk and the pressure plate,the pressure plate is bolted by six bolts to the flywheel and i think 97 and up models are non modular how ever i might be wrong..
any advantages as to which is better i could not tell u but they are both expensive...

97 and up are modular for sure, 96/95 the only way for sure is when you pull it
