29570, auto tranny redline??? Posted by Badasseclipse98, Aug-05-02 01:37 PM
hey guys i have heard that for us 2gnts with the auto tranny you can put a ecu from a manual tranny to raise the redline from 6200 to 7200 and that it will be a good mod to do for automatic transmission. Is this really true or will the ecu from a manual tranny not even fit an auto tranny.please help:wary

That's interesting.... I never heard of that before. Can someone let us know. But I doubt you can do it.

I doubt it will work either, but I know the rev limiter is set at 6500 to keep your tranny together. The tranny can't take 7200 rpms for very long, then KABOOM.

Okay guys, here's the deal. You cannot raise the rev limit with an auto tranny... even if you swap ECUs or use an ignition system. The limit is set by the TCU. Nobody has found a work-around for this but Level 10 may be able to help you out. http://www.levelten.com

When I had the venom 400 on, my tranny would tach up to 7k. But we all know where that went. My shift sensors stopped working, and it had to be towed in to a dealer. I sold the venom 400 and took my $100 loss.

Simply replacing the auto ECU with a manual ECU will not effectively function. The auto tranny has the auxiliary task of figuring out the shift points for the vehicle.

So all of us with auto trannys are stuck with 6500 rpm. That's it, and if ya don't like it, trade it in for a 5 speed.
