29563, Engine design flaw?
Posted by Brain, Aug-05-02 11:09 AM
I was reading a warning about the Eclipse at the magnacore website. It said the deep wells for the spark plugs enabled pooling of water and oil. NOTE: I didnt say caused, but enabled. For example, It said when the car is cooling down condensation can occur around the motor, especially in humid areas. The deep spark plug wells trapped the water. The trapped water can cause engine hestitation, etc. Ive been having this problem, engine hesitation, and I was wondering if there was any long term fix that can be done?

Aren't deep spark plug wells common to nearly all I-4, 16 valve engines? I don't think a significant amount of condensation will accumulate down there. If you had a bad valve cover leak and the wells filled up with oil...then thats another story. If you have hesitation and no visible liquid in the spark plug wells, I would look for another cause.
