thanks to all your help im slowly narrowing this down. the car feels like its misfiring. i went to autozone to have the engine code checked but they werer too busy, so instead i replaced the gas cap (as someone suggested) and replaced the spark plug wires. well, the check engine light is off again, (for now) but the car is still feeling like its misfiring (but not nearly as bad). i didnt have time to replace the spark plugs so ill do that tonight. but what else should i look for?

there was some oil built up inside the spark plug area, but not much. anything else electical i should look at or replace?? what else could be damaged as a result of "lightly" washing an engine bay?? car is rolling over 100k miles tonight.. anything else i could be over looking?

i also checked the exhaust sensor, still intact and seems ok.

sounds like your on the right track, I would try disconnecting the battery for a bit to let the ECU reset it self, maybe some fuel maps etc. have been slightly modified due to the CEL problem and I would replace the plugs too.

Other than that just let it dry out, I have heard that the gasket on the TPS is prone to letting moisture in and messing with readings etc..
