Ok, Tell your dad to take your rear seat out. There is a little cover in the middle of the seat...after you take teh seats out you will see...tell him to listen closely and turn the keys all the way over and see if he hears a noise cming from the pump....if that dont work try this tell him to look at the fuel rail...the thing that holds the injectors in..it is black and right in fotn of your intake manifold...there will be a cap on the left side of the fuel rail...it looks like a tire valve cap...tell him to press that little Schrader valve ...the littl ething in the middle after you take the cap off.. Press it..WATCH OUT GAS MAY SPEW....If you here a hiss...your pump is prolly clogged...if gas comes out the pump is working fine...Take the car to auto zone...get them to run a test to see why the CEL is coming on...i think you got something more that bad gas on ya hams..I mean hands :)

W A T C H O U T!!!!!!!!! GAS WILL SPEW...TELL HIM TO PUT A ZIPLOCK BAG OVER IT THEN POKE IT WITHA SCREW DRIVER OR SUMTHIN.

Thanks for the help.

The trouble is not that players have sex the night before a game. It's that they stay out all night looking for it.

Chech and change your spark plugs and wires and check your fuel pump relay. Also inspect your plugs, for richness, to see if it's getting gas.

If you can, take a multimeter to your fuel pump wire in the back to see if it's getting voltage(black with blue stripe). Might be easier for you to have someone lift up the rear seat and put their ear close to the fuel pump, and just turn your key to the on position. You should hear a slight whine of the fuel pump turning on and priming your car.

It's more likely to be a sensor problem that's causing your car not to start, but it's worth checking your spark plugs and wires at least. Unfortunately, your car is a 99, so there really isn't any good way to get your car to an autozone, but if you have a datalogger, that sure would make it easier to troubleshoot your car.

my dad put new spark plugs, a new fuel filter and the battery is fine. the car still wont start. he drained all the gas and put new gas in, what else could it be? How do you check the sensors to see if maybe one of them is out? No one here in el campo is selling repair manuals for a 99 eclipse. any way to check?

Do you hear the starter trying to turn the car over or not?

If it is, then it might be your fuel pump. If you can, have someone open up the test port cap on the end of your fuel rail and push in the shraeder (tire stem) and turn the car to the ON position. DO NOT TURN IT OVER. See if you get any gas. If you don't, then check the fuel pump and/or its relay.

Why dont you check the codes before you go messing with anything else, seems like you already wasted 1/2 a day checking for fuel pump issues, why not do the keydance and do it right the first time
see here for detailed keydance instructions http://www.asog.net/wheatking/PCM.HTM

your welcome

Her car is a 99' according to her signature. The Key Dance isn't available. Since she can't get it started, she wouldn't be able to drive it to Autozone either.

Anyone thought about a fuel filter here? I'm new to the Eclipse game so bare with me. But I've had cars in the past suddenly shake and jump then just stop running...all it was was a fuel filter issue. Had that changed and it was good as new.

Are you fixed yet? If not what steps have you taken?
