I was reading the section on Head removal in my Childons manual AGAIN and it said you have to remove the cam shafts inorder to get the head off is this true??????? I wanna do the HG and the timing belt at the same time. but i only want to remove what is completely necessary....

i cant see how you could remove the head without taking out the camshafts, so its probably right

Yes you do, some head bolts you can remove without taking the camshafts, but why wouldnt you take the cams off anyways? you are going to have to take the whole timing belt assembly off anyways, the camshafts are just a few bolts away.
If you just want to remove/replace the rocker arms/lifters, there is a way to take them off without taking anything off except the valve cover....

...are located under the camshafts, but I remember it was XT_DSM who was able to do it w/o disassembling the head
