Shaun said that it's one of their earlier test manifolds. The fitment is not quite as good as what we're getting now. It's more for some one wanting to a custom turbo setup.

Thanks, Richard (97 ESi)

29096, NER manifold QUESTION regarding fitament
Posted by JasonESi_T, Aug-01-02 06:13 AM
Since you did bring up issues regarding the fitament of the manifold and I have seen pictures of the manifold with the turbo mounted on the flange, let me ask the question:

When I saw the turbo on the manifold, it appeared to sit REALLY high above the radiator fans, giving me the impression that the hood would come nowhere near being able to close.

Is this conclusion accurate?

what did you want to accomplish by posting this? this is the same bullshit that has been floating around this board, about NER, that has done nothing but weaken our community.... all of the older board members do know shaun and that he is a good guy, but ALOT of the trash talking has come from the newer members, that do not know shaun or even this board all that well... thats just starting off on the wrong foot with this community.. anyway, for all the people that ARE customers, we all know what has been going on with the manifolds. to all of those that are not involved, they dont know unless they contact shaun personally.. he will tell them or anyone that calls him the real deal situation. he is honest and not trying to pull this scam that people are out to make it look like. but its like this.. if you have no intentions of being a NER customer, why would you go out of your way to make it look bad? thats just bullshit if you ask me... if its none of your business, then keep it that way! because of ignorant post from people that have no idea what is going on... we have lost a VERY valuable asset to 2gnt. i can understand that the kits have not been put out as fast as we (the customers and shaun the owner) would have liked them to be put out, but once they are out, you can all see what the kits are made of and waht they can do.... until then, you have no right to BS/trash talk/whatever. this is a rant that has carried over from a while now, this post has just set me off and its time for me to stop.. dont mean to offend anyone on this site, but it just pisses me off to see crap like this be handed around

I’ve stayed out of this for awhile. I don’t have anything against Shaun because I don’t know him. I do have an opinion about NER though and just because I am not a “customer” that doesn’t mean I can't voice that opinion. The same goes for anyone else who wants to speak their mind. This is a public discussion board and there are going to be issues where people don’t see eye to eye.

With that out of the way. I feel there is a lot to be said here about NER and this kit. The first issue of mine is the manifold. I haven’t seen the pictures of the turbo on it. Just by looking at the manifold in the picture it doesn’t look like it would fit in our engine bay w/ a turbo on it. If the manifold in question in fact doesn’t fit or isn’t up to par why would you list it as part of the kit and start taking money for it? This would lead me to believe that the kit isn’t or hasn’t been through all the testing yet. If the kit has problems in it or hasn’t’ been tested why would you risk your companies reputation on it? As a company your fucked if you put out a product w/o properly testing. You will end up having a lot of angry customers on your hands and the word would spread VERY quickly about the bad product.

My second issue is about the layaway program they offer. To my best knowledge it is illegal to take money on layaway w/o having that product IN STOCK and ready for the customer as soon as they fulfill their finical obligation. I wouldn’t give money to anyone unless I knew they had a kit on a self collecting dust until I gave them the amount I owed.

My third issue is about all the “new guys” saying bad things about NER. I am not new and I have posted in topics about NER before, long before. NER use to be called Discount auto something or other then they changed it to NER. There have been at least three times the company has shut down their web site and diapered. A few months go by and they have a new face on the net and are up and running for business again. People in the past have had problems w/ NER and the honesty of the owner. People have been charged for products right after they ordered and didn’t see the part until many weeks later. This too is illegal, you can not charge a customers credit card until you ship the product.

People who have their opinions about NER have them for a reason. Either they had a bad experience w/ the company or someone they knew did. I don’t think people just jump on a bandwagon just to it, there is “in most cases” a reason.

The biggest problem I have is the turbo kit. It just doesn’t add up to me. But luckily for me I am not on of those poor souls who has to wait and wonder if I will ever get my turbo kit or have a problem w/ it and have to wait forever and a day to get help or a new part.

Just by putting the kit on the market and not having any pictures or real life people w/ an actual working kit is bad face. Not to mention changing the parts in the kit in the middle of everything and making excuses.

I want to see a picture of the kit w/ that manifold on a car w/ everything hooked up and running. Until then my opinion will stay the same and I will voice it whenever I what, because I can. But in all of this you must realize that this is my opinion if you don’t like it just skip over it.

I believe in proper business skills, proper customer service and relations. NER hasn’t been exercising those and that is why people have the opinions they do.

He has shown us pics of the kit on CVedEclipse's car, we are just waiting for the rest of the pics to be uploaded. Obviously its had to have been on a car before otherwise there wouldnt be any dyno info. I know all of you guys want more of this and that, but all that info will be out all too soon. You guys just arent in the loop as far as the information that Shaun has been providing us concerning these kits, so all you can give is the opinion on what you have seen, which frankly isnt much.

you said it yourself... you are not a customer.. if you were a customer and had taken the time to call shaun, the you would be FULLY informed. b/c you are not a customer, or have not had the intention of being one, you do not know what is going on... the customers do, its just as simple as that. sure, people can have (and voice) their opinions.. fine be me, but when they are talking about stuff they have no clue about, then thats what bothers me... they do not know if the kit is complete, they do not know about customer service, they do not know if the kits have been shipped... if they were a customer, or called NER to figure these things out, then their "opinions" would be a little different.

>With that out of the way. I feel there is a lot to be said
>here about NER and this kit. The first issue of mine is the
>manifold. I haven’t seen the pictures of the turbo on it.

once again, you are not a customer.. therefore you have not gotten the updates that we have gotten. you do not know the plans that he has for the kits... then you would know that the manifold fits fine, but the decision was to go with the steel manifolds for the best fitment and b/c the material is easier to come by (so that he could get the kits out faster). i have had the manifold and turbo bolted up on my car and the fitment was fine... there are pictures for those in the groupbuy, and are available to request. but again, how would you know that unless you were a customer?

>My second issue is about the layaway program they offer. To

what can i say about this? not much.. the kits are not fully stocked, but he has his reasons, and the customers know what they are.. once the order is finished the parts will get to NER quickly and shipped out asap... how much more different is this than paying HRC or Star fully for a kit and then waiting around for a month to get it? touchy subject, but for those interested... a call can do a great deal.

>My third issue is about all the “new guys” saying bad things

i do not know of such situations, and i will not make it my business... i do know that he shut his site down for a long time to get it running and programmed correctly.. to make his site more efficient.. in those down times, i know that his business was not down..

>People who have their opinions about NER have them for a
>reason. Either they had a bad experience w/ the company or
>someone they knew did. I don’t think people just jump on a

that is the problem.. you are wrong.. most people that are forming these negative opinions are people that ARE NOT customers.. jumping on the band wagon? i dont know... but the customers of the group buy are perfectly happy with the way things have been so far... i have yet to see that anyone in the groupbuy get mad.. funny that the people outside the groupbuy that are not customers are though.

>The biggest problem I have is the turbo kit. It just
>doesn’t add up to me. But luckily for me I am not on of

yea, lucky for you... pffft, sure guy. ask the people of the groupbuy if they are sweating about losing their money. just because the kits are not out as fast as expected, does not mean that they are not coming at all.. he has been getting dicked around by all sorts of vendors, which push back the time it takes to get the kit completed. the customer support is there.. shaun is there everyday, all day.. people at NER are there everyday, all day... do you have a clue as to what you speak of?

>Just by putting the kit on the market and not having any
>pictures or real life people w/ an actual working kit is bad
>face. Not to mention changing the parts in the kit in the
>middle of everything and making excuses.

he has made it openly clear that if people wanted out, they could have out... the customers knew this, as updates came, the option was out there... full money back.. again, the customers know, but you are not informed. did you know that?

>I want to see a picture of the kit w/ that manifold on a car

fine by me, but when you voice your opinion.. you better know the facts. and you dont. the pictures will come out, and when they do, i hope it will make everyone happy.

>I believe in proper business skills, proper customer service
>and relations. NER hasn’t been exercising those and that is

AGAIN.. how would you know? are you a customer? have you had the chance to experience NERs customer service? NO... how can you speak of what you do not know?

>I wasn't going to go there but amen. I was here when juan, eric z and eric R were the only ones posting and messages werent even threadable. I think its the new guys who are more likely to be customers.

i wasnt around at that time.. hell, ive only been here for two years.. but i realize that the new guys have the most potential of being customers.. but if they have any questions.. all they have to do is call. most people do a little research before making any purchase.. i know the numbers are not out yet, but with that said, all they have to do is call. once the numbers are media are out for his products, then they can decide from there.

sorry for the long repetative posts.. but being that this is a "public forum" and all, i wanted the chance to defend myself (and the long ass, drama creating posts that ive made.. sorry) and to defend NER and shaun.. i believe in his company and all that they stand by. but to see the business get slammed due to lack of knowledge.... its just wrong. and since shaun has decided not to post on here anymore, i thought i would help him out a little.

from now on, ill stay quiet about all this turbo kit business.. the numbers will come out, and then the opinions can be formed.. but before anyone makes negative comments about anyone or anything... just make sure that you have the facts/evidence to back up what you are saying. sorry for the waste of space yall.

Spoken like a true hero...
I retract everything I stated because you know it all...

I'm not going to get in a pissing contest w/ you because you love Shaun and NER. I stated my opinion and I stated FACTS. There is a reason Stan said the only people that are customers are the newer guys. Shits happened in the past and the few who have been around are aware of it. I have been a customer in the past and I did get screwed by NER.

good luck w/ your kit though....

Let's just make sure this stays a civil discussion with facts and debate, NO name calling, or personal attacks needed.

With that said, I think Shaun's business has had a rocky intro. I remember discount auto and problems being posted a long time ago, both with product avalability and shipping, etc. I had tried to get them on the phone to place orders in the past and was not able to get through. I'm not saying that any of these problems that business go through in the introduction are not ironed out. But for some who have been around for a while past problems are not forgotten easily. Many good reviews may go unoticed while a bad on ewill stick in someones mind.

I just know that I would not be one to pay for a product that has not been developed yet. It's a personal decision that has to be made by each consumer. Money is far too precious to me to give a lot of it away for promises.

I'm STILL waiting on my agreement shaun and I made 1 month ago...and 4-5 months ago....and 8 months ago...

First I am just going to directly respond to people in this post. I said I was not going to post any more and I plan to do just that but this post has gotten way out of hand.

BLACKWIDOWDSM:
I know you did not mean to start and debuts when you posted this I am sorry that other members misread your post. It happens to me all the time and causes me a lot of grief when I post. You were more or less just trying to figure it out. ourformerselves answered you post correctly and it should have stopped there.

ourformerselves:
You passed this info that you asked me a long and it was very informative to the author asking the question. Thank You

JasonESi_T:
E-mail me Shaun@NewEdgeRacing.com I will replay with some images that will help clear this up.

CVedEclipse:
You may have come down a little hard on the author of this post but with all the options on the kits and NER I can see why you would be defensive. Just try to understand I do not think he was trying to start anything negative towards NER or me.

Stan2gnt:
RIGHT! You hit the nail on the head

BLACKWIDOWDSM:
You are right I think he took your post the wrong way.

JustOne:
This is a public form, and you do have every right to you option that’s the whole reason we are all here right?

This kit does fit fine, this kit does work fine, this kit has been tested, and on top of that I do have and offer to anyone wanting to see images of the kit installed on a 420A. I also offer people to come by my shop to see. I have no reason to mislead or lie to people about the production/R&D of this kit. Like you said my companies reputation is on the line. I would not risk that just to say I can make a turbo kit.

As far as the layaway plain goes. First of all the kit is in stock there was a fuel pump issue that called for me getting some new ones in here. Next its illegal if the seller has no intent on restocking the product due to demand and payment fulfillment. And I started layaway as a favor to my customers and people who can not just drop 2G+ to get in on a good deal like a group buy.

History time. My first business venture was a site called DiscountAutoworkz.com I was in a partnership with another guy who ended up disappearing and running with all the money that the company acquired. I decided to start fresh with NewEdgeRacing and I started doing all my own web site programming. The first site I made could not handle the amount of customers I was selling to. Plus I was working a full time job at that time. I took to site down for about 2 months why I learned VB and asp to program a good work e-commerce system. That wend on for about 3 months then I started having problems with my programming, my orders were getting reported wrong in the system so customers were getting shipped the wrong product. So once again I had to take the site down. That last fubar hurt me and my customers a lot. So I still took orders from people I knew and phone orders. The process of me learning VB the right way, me moving back to California, and opening a real store up took almost a year. So now I have a site that works great, I am here all day to answers questions and help customers. I would most definitely say that I am now on the right track to providing the support I need to that makes business conduct in the proper way. Your point of it being illegal to take money for a product that is not in stock is valid to a degree. It’s only illegal if the customer is misled to believe that the item is in stock and available. If you look at my site every item that is not on hand is stated Special Order it’s up to the customer at that point weather they want to pay for the product before it is on hand/in stock. The system online is automated once they start a transaction the payments gateway /SSL processes the payment with there order.

The bandwagon comment is valid to a degree. A lot of people do have there right to feel mad/happy with "there experience" with me. But it comments like one that popped up a few weeks ago stating that I have 46 lawsuits pending with me with the BBB and it being false. I could have been a real ass about stuff like that. That is the kind of stuff that lands people in slander lawsuits.

The turbo kits do not add up to you? Lets see Manifold+Turbo+Downpipe+Oil+Fuel=BOOST simple enough.

You want to see the whole kit up and running hu? Ok ill do one better ill give you video. I will post one more time on here with some video once I get it uploaded from my camcorder. Until them you have a right to any option you want to cast on me or my products.

"I believe in proper business skills, proper customer service and relations. NER hasn’t been exercising those and that is why people have the opinions they do." I can not say much to this due to because of the circumstances in the past I explained earlier you are right. But that has not and is not the case now.

Everyone is entitled to there option. I do know that some people have had problems ordering from me in the past. I also know there have been a lot of people who have had a great pleasant experience ordering from me. I do not want to silence anyone on here or tell them how to think. I just hate to see people wasting there time talking about stuff like this and taking up 2GNT server space. I swear it’s like North vs. South on here. But I am sure my post will have more Neg Effects them pos.

Gee, I think you've just been caught. I should first point out that I did recieve the HKS SSQ BOV and flange about 1 1/2 weeks ago. Still waiting on the EGT and WG. Now that you've come right out and said that they are both been on backorder, what the heck have those wonderful stories you've been telling me for the last 3 months been? "Oh, I got your WG but there was a rock in the box so someone at UPS stole it" and "I didn't send your EGT with the BOV because it had a scratch on it." And I base my statement that they are not on backorder from knowing 2 people that have successful acquired Tial gates within the last 2 months, and them damn performance shops in town stocking all these crazy greddy gauges in their display cases. It may be that they are on back order now BUT i doubt they have been for the past 3 months. Though I will call to make sure.

And to add to this. I have NEVER BEEN told that the EGT is on backorder. Yes. NEVER! When I first ordered my WG, Shaun did tell me it was on back order. But about 1 - 1 1/2 months ago I was told that it was NO LONGER on backorder. Then yesterday told that 1/2 the gate was on backorder (not the actuator part but the other part ... the term eludes me presently).

Also, yes you are very right. I am tired of waiting. I have been mislead to believe that my items will be arriving to you shortly almost everytime I call only to hear the same story when I call a few days later. I do want a refund in full. I called today but found you not there. I left a message stating that you should call me on my cell phone in regards to this matter. I left that number too.

I really do hope that this thread is not locked. I have only stated facts from what I have been told by Shaun, and my current feelings on this issue.

CVedEclipse,

>that is the problem.. you are wrong.. most people that are
>forming these negative opinions are people that ARE NOT customers.

How do you know who is or isn’t a customer? How do you know who was a customer in the past? I was ONCE a customer. So if someone isn’t in the group buy thing they aren’t a customer?

>jumping on the band wagon? i dont know... but
>the customers of the group buy are perfectly happy
>with the way things have been so far... i have yet
>to see that anyone in the groupbuy get mad.. funny
>that the people outside the groupbuy that are not customers are >though.

Not too many of the guys have finished paying for the kit yet. As soon as they pay for it and want it you may see a few of those guys pissed off if they don’t get it in a timely manner.

Shaun,

>The turbo kits do not add up to you? Lets see
>Manifold+Turbo+Downpipe+Oil+Fuel=BOOST simple enough

I could have been a little clearer on that issue. What I meant about it not all adding up to me are the changes to the kit. I now you said that there was an issue w/ the manifold but your still changing your product before anyone on this board has a system on their car. (By person I mean someone you don’t know or sponsor) To me this tells me your research and development hasn’t been done completely. I’m sorry Shaun you and NER can be kind of shady sometimes. W/ a lot of the stuff that happened in the past you can’t blame me or anyone else for being skeptical if you make excuses and sudden changes you your kit. The manifold you have is definitely different and by looking at the pictures it definitely looks like there might be some issues w/ everything fitting. But you say it fits and everything closes and moves and is happy, then I will take your word for it.

>I do not remember you ever buying anything from
>me but if you did I am sorry if you had a bad experience.

So am I…

>But I did not screw you. You did get your product right?
>Or you did get a refund right?

By not shipping a product and charging me for that product yes, I feel you did screw me.
No, I never got the product.
Yes, I got my money back but you didn’t give it back my credit card company did by disputing the charge. They gave me the money back and said you would have to prove that you shipped the product to get the money back. I knew you wouldn’t be able to do that and I never herd from you or my credit card company again on the issue.

That’s my recommendations for anyone who has a problem getting their orders. If you wait forever and a day to get your stuff don’t call the company asking if they have it. Call your credit card company and tell them you were charged for a product that you never received.

Like I said above Shaun you just come off shady sometimes. I really hope you get all of it worked out and you can supply your guys w/ a solid kit and everyone comes out happy. I just don’t want to see anyone get burned.

Hey..

Avenger:
I got home and I received your message I have had a real busy day out of the office, tomorrow but I will try to set some time aside to give you a call. Sorry I was not in today. My post regarding you was not worded quite right. Even though it does not matter I will explain everything to you when I call you.

JustOne:
I am not changing the product due to lack of incorrect operation. It’s more or less the same thing. I did make one adjustment but it was only an improvement and not because it did not work. The other changes were made because I had no chose, more or less its forecasting future parts availability. Like I said before, I realize this can be traumatic to a product you are trying to sell that’s why I did offer everyone full refunds at the time the change was made. Ne ways thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt on that.

I have never had a credit card company contact me in the past about not giving refunds. I process all credits via my terminal. Most likely I posted the credit to your account and it just took some time to post to your account. It sucks that when someone charges your card you funds get taken right away, but when you get a credit issues it takes 2 days - 3 weeks depending on whom the bank that owns your account. Like I said before I am sorry your order got messed up but hey you got your money back and all you wasted was some time.

Thanks for having an open mind about the resent projects I have been working on. You are one of the first people on here that do not agree with my views and experiences with 2GNT but you are still willing to have an open mature conversation. And that’s all I ask, I do not expect everyone to like me but hey it sure help when we can all stay civil.

Now can we please let this post go off into the archives? Everyone has said there piece and I am almost 100% sure everyone knows what’s going on here.

shawn is a cool guy, and ner is sorta a new thing for everyone.. it sorta sucks on both parts ...people say the ner turbo kit is no good, some people say its the best to hit us all! I Believe that before anyone could have bought a NER turbo kit 'group buy' each kit should have been tested 'prototyped' before hand, not at the time of the 1st sales 'group buy'. with that said, there would have been proof from the start of each kits limits etc.. and proof of dyno power or track time before hand also if possible...i also believe most of us would agree with that? think about it! shawn dont u think this is true? i was on the 1st board of 2gnt.com couple months after it open up, but i did not post that much.. it was nice to have such few people who knew alot, eric r, juan, stan, darkone, wyatt, shawn etc...its nice to have alot more 2gnt.com member but i hate people who think they knew more then they really know etc... oh well

What's the big difference who was here first, sounds like kids playing tag,is that an issue now, does that make some of us more important here than others, or, are we just a community of people exchanging ideas and information with similar interests. Sounds like the later to me. No doubt Stan2gnt and Dino and all the others know their shit, but just because someone has been here 2,4,6,9 months or less doesn't mean they havent been around cars. I don't know a whole about turbo's, trannys and so on, that's why Im here, but I know how to research and learn my shit when it comes to working on both my own and keeping them on the road, when I don't, then it's good to have a 2gnt. So good arguments, guys much love to you all, Shaun Im still down for u, Everyone else no matter what u know or how long uv been here, stay tru to what u believe and don't change.
