I was told that getting a custom made 3" downpipe would help out on the bottom end for you automatic's out there. I was just told this by someone who got it done on his eclipse. I don't have an automatic so i really can't say my opinion.

Just the opposite actually... Bigger exhaust usually has less backpressure needed to make that low end horsepower but lets the exhaust breathe better at the higher rpms creating top end hp.

Yup what Evul said. It would totally KILL Your low end, and hopefully he was being sarcastic hehe.
