29029, New to the 2GNT game...need some help Posted by WesEclipse, Jul-31-02 10:52 AM
Hey everyone. I have been checking out the site for a while now and finally took the time to register. I recently got a 98 rs 5spd and I have been tryin to get up to par with what parts i should buy for each mod (ie intake-aem or injen exhaust- greddy or hks and so on) I am not too worried about how much each part would cost i just would like to know what parts are the best in each category. I promise to participate a lot on the forum now that i can, and offer any help that i can as well. Also, one quick question. I have been chcking out prices online for parts and i found at speedandstyle.com the AEM short ram intake is only 129 bucks. thats like 100 bucks cheaper than anywhere else. And its for all cars, inluding like the civics and whatnot. Is getting the short ram going to be much differnt than the bigger one? Anyways, all input is appreciated. Thanks! Wes PS I will post a pic of my car soon....its a work in progress

My opinion on the cold air models is that I think they are too long and by the time the colder air gets to the tb it is already heated up. I ended up putting some filter over my tb with no tubing and damn was it fast and LOUD. I am trying to find a more secure filter so I can keep doing this. I'm not sure how much heat is around there but I am going to try and get some sort of a heat shield for it.

I have a 1999 GS what I have to start is AEM cool air intake, AIR MASS catback exhaust, GREDDY Headers (stainless), NOLOGY sparkplug wires, NOLOGY sparkplugs, and the jet chip. With theses modes it opens it up for more air flow and with more air coming in and going out means more horse. Also your question about the short air intake this may be cheeper but you should get the cool air intake.
Hope this helps
