28930, Got my ECU back
Posted by Avenger EST, Jul-30-02 01:03 PM
Howell sent my ecu back "very quickly" with the re-program done (I believe it was shipped next day air. impressive). I will try it out this week and see if I can rev the car to a good 8K plus rpm.

I want to hear the results too. I am planning an all motor buildup (either with the 2.2L stroker or the 3.0 aluminum block when it comes out) with 12.5:1 pistons, and the street cams, and now possibly the af/x ecu, and eventually maybe the quad throttle body setup since I don't have to worry about emissions here in PA.

Where do you live in PA that you don't have to worry about emissions?

with this ecu, could we get it pre programed to run bigger injectors like 440cc etc? and also ignition?

well Ive been reading about the ones for the neons and it appears as if it will adapt by itself when larger injectors are added. If im wrong, let me know. It also changes timing, etc. to benifit from higher octane gas.
28941, RE: Got my ECU back
Posted by RIeclipse, Jul-31-02 09:21 AM
since the ecu changes timing does that mean it will take more gas and with the ecu would I need to use the 93 gas for my car?

maybe and definteily.

why not 91 gas and why would be the reason for that, and what be a idea of horsepoer from the new ecu?

Well? I'm sure people are chomping at the bit. Do we need to make changes, do I start taking orders? $390 plus $150 core, but we are short cores right now.

Gary,
can you shed some light as to what all has been modified or what changes have been made to this ECU, just give us some info to help us make up our minds to go out and buy one.

We dont care about features, we want to know the benefits.

I care about features. I wanna know what all has been chenged.. like minimums and maximums for the LTFT and STFT?

Long Term Fuel Trim / Short Term Fuel Trim

I have cash in hand ready to purchase one of these... I'd love to see some results. Also, my car is currently being rebuilt, so if you need another guinie pig, Gary, let me know.

I'm curious if one unit works for all years. There are a slew of part numbers out for ECUs. Also, 96-97 ECUs have sockets that 98-99 wiring harnesses will not fit and vice versa (plus even if you jam them in it still doesn't work). And 95s are different all the way.
28956, RE: Got my ECU back
Posted by Kirby, Aug-08-02 03:49 AM
Well Gary told me that this one would work for I think he said 96-99. I KNOW he said that he was not putting anything out for 95's right now if ever.

Any word? And where can we get more info on this?

Just a quick question, if it adapts to larger injectors could it possibly adapt to quad TB's? That would save a chunk of change not having to get a stand alone ya know! Also it would prolly have better all weather driveability.

Seriosly Armond, don't leave us hanging like this.

ok I'll beg. Will you please please please please give us some sort of review? Please please, pretty please?

He has managed to give a small semi review when he put it on my car, but it ended up falling into another thread in another section. He is currently running my car with only 525cc injectors, 1:1 regulator, inline fuel pump, and stock ecu with 18psi on the S16G. He threw in the AFX ecu and it gave 10deg more timing, fuel to match, and a 7800rpm redline. Said the car felt definitely better with the before and after, but remember my car is turboed running 18psi. All that timing (21deg average) has made a massive difference in power. I imagine it should be similar for a non turbo. In the next coming week there should be some dynos on a stock ecu turbo car and a relatively stock non turbo car so we can get more information and impressions out of it. They will be coming in time.
