With the advent of my 100k mark i am celebrating with a rebuild...For turbo :D Now i know perty much what i need for it....But i was curious about how much y'all have spent on doing it all correctly the way it should be...ie port n polish, lower compression, gaskets, cams, all that shiite. I am looking at getting a 3a NER turbo kit if that helps any. Oh yeah...what have you guys spent on just the rebuild, not the turbo, and what did you get done??...tia :thumbsup

anyway from what I gather you need:
all gaskets
waterpump
oil pump
timing belt
timing belt tensioner (?? I think so not sure)
Idler pulley (I believe the was a post on hose to get a aftermarket bearing for this so it's cheaper)
head gasket

hmm that's all I can think of off the top of my head but they other guys can fill in the blanks for me. Haha I'd like to know myself what else I need to buy. So far all I got is the oil pump and the pistons/rods.

Some bottom end rebuild kits (Howell for sure) come with a bottom end gasket kit. You can buy a top end gasket kit from Conicelli for $110.90 and then you will have replaced every gasket/seal in your engine! It just feels good to know that, especially with so many miles on your engine.....I added my HRC Stage II at 112,500 miles and rebuilt my engine at 117,000.

Other items you may want to get:
- replace all belts
- head studs
- EGR block off
- flush all fluids: oil, tranny, radiator...brake and clutch too if you want to, it's always easier to work on the car with the engine out!

so all i need to do is rebuild the bottom end?? I figured i would have to go top AND bottom...I was thinking about getting a Howell crate engine and jus swapping it. But if i can rebuild the bottom end get the gaskets n stuff for hella cheaper then that is more goodies that i can get :thumbsup

edit: Also, would i just need the OEM pumps or are there better aftermarket pumps that i should get??

Most people just rebuild the bottom end when running higher boost with turbo. Pistons and piston rings seem to be the weakest part after going turbo.

Turbo kits come with upgraded fuel pumps, and the Howell rebuild kit comes with an upgraded oil pump.
