28202, compression :(
Posted by spicyMitsu, Jul-22-02 08:39 AM
i checked my compression today...195.205.200.160. im guessing i fucked something up internally. i tried the oil in the spark hole and the compression shot up to like 300. i was like whoa. that is silly. so i think i put a little too much in. so then im like fuck it, and i start the gay car, and tons of blue smoke pour out the exhaust. so yea i think im fucked. the car runs fine other than it not being fast with stage 1 5psi. and i have no money so i guess everything sux. bye.

Sorry to hear that man.. yeah looks and sounds like #4 cylinder is bad.
you were running 5 psi non intercooled? what were your egts? what about your a/f at WOT?
with a 98 it does not seem like it could have just been old worn parts.

If you still have warranty Could try to put it back to stock form and take it to the dealer and say "hey what the hell!" might get it fixed for free.

good luck

i didnt hook up my egt gauge yet, but i have 35,000 miles and i was running way rich. my a/f ratio at wot was between .95-.98. i didnt boost TOO much, and i was only running 5psi, i was driving around with 3 cels for a while, but after putting in the missing link and the new o2 sensor they all went away. i dont know what happened, me sad :(

that's it 35,000 miles? dude take off everything for the turbo including the fuel pump (unless it's an intank fuel pump) and take that bitch to the dealer your still under factory warrenty. that's a free fix do u still have all your stock parts?

haha don't worry your compression isn't as low as mine 150 130 130 150. That 4th cylinder would be what you gotta worry about since it's like way off compared to the others. But yeah your engine is really new I don't think it's because of boost that it's jacked up it probably because it was defected or.... you might have not of broken it in properly.

question to omega
are you boosting w/ that compression cause i'm at aabout 170 and i'm afraid to buy a turbo kit w/out rebuild first
i can't afford both things now

You could have a blown head gasket. Cylinder 4 is the most common place to blow a HG. With your low miliage, i'd bet its the HG, not internal problems, esp if you really didn't get on it really really hard for long times anyway..

hmmm.....so how do i know if its a blown headgasket? its not leaking oil anywhere, and when i did the oil in the spark hole thingy the compression went up, so i thought that meant cracked ring land.

Glad to hear all is okay, but I have to ask... Did you not expect blue smoke from the oil you pored into the cylanders? :-)
