my water pump quit today and i had to get it towed to the dodge dealer (closer than mitsu dealer) does any one know about what price it will be to get the car fixed 1 need a timing belt to so i tol them to change that too. it due to change in 5000 miles when i was going to change th water pump too but it looks like im going to have to do them both early thanks for any help

What happened? Was it making a loud whine? Water pump for my fiances dohc grand am was 450 bucks labor included..

i know it was the water pump because it wined for a week i thought it wasthe alt bering then the temp shot way up past hot and water was pouring out the housing for the water pump. my girl firend also works for the dealer ship so i will get a discount

I guess the water pouring out of the pump was probably a good sign that the pump was bad...hehehe...

ok os it $700 and i still dont have it back yet they put it back together yesterday and took it for a test drive and said that the altnator belt was eating its self up. wtf i just put those on like 100 miles ago. mecanic said it happens alot has it ever happened to any one hear

they do eat belts sometimes but not for no reason they probally forgot to tighten down the tention pulley or they put the crank pulley on cockeyed

No tensioner pulley for the alternator. They probably put the crank pulley on a bit off I would guess. If it was your PS/AC belt \then it would probably because of the TSB out there.
