i wonder if you had a body shop bend the left lip of hood up a little bit to allow more cool air into the engine if it would be worth it.

Just get some custom vents added on. Or order one of those predator hoods. I'd like to get some custom vents right behind the radiator like those on the EVO, but a little smaller.

Easier yet, just shim up the hood mounting brackets. If the back of it is lifted, it's a cowl-induction effect.

Hey, another thing, the front bumper, the gap between it and the hood it pretty small, when i got into my little accident the bracket holding the bumper all the way up to the hood got bent down a bit making the gap bigger, it doesn't look that bad at all, and it actually has made a bit of a difference in my engine temps, the needle only a little less than a 1/3 up, it was weird.

Even better idea....buy a ViS carbon fiber Dual vent Xtreme GT hood

Shit just take the hood off.j/k GT hood and alumi. radiator should do a good job to keep the temp down but what about in the cold? any problems?

i remember a whiiile back someone posted a pic of a 2g headlight that had a whole in it where the high beam went that led directly to the intake. i believe it was on a gst/gsx. wouldnt that be ok and does anyone have that pic?

that pic, i posted from dsmtalk.com (a hole in the actual light (high beam, i think) that shot air right at the intake on a 4g63(gst/x) engine....would lower air intake temps, not engine temperature... i would go with what darkone said... and if your lookin at the guage inside da ride that's stock, its the water/coolant temp...or a fluidine radiator, or the radiator fluid that hooks it up for a about 10-20 degree drop in coolant temp....

i yanked the stock plastic nonsense(among other BS parts) thats located/connected to 6ish bolts on the bottom of the bumper and some plastic connections..('99) and i ziptied in sum metal that's bent at about a 60-70 degree angle shootin/routin air up into my radiator....

my c/f hood sits a lil higher than my stocker....didnt notice any diff on my coolant temp guage....

im in the desert tho...

that is exactly what i was thinking.. if the gap between the hood and the bumper were increased wouldnt more air go in the engine bay? not sure if it would make a hell of a difference though.

If you have the cash, get a vented hood or put some vents in your stock hood. It is better to vent hot air out as opposed to ramming cold air in.

The hood and bumper gap helped out a bit actually.

how does one go about increasing the gap between the hood and the bumper?

if i take off the plastic cowl near the wipers.. what are the disadvantages?

remove the black rubber gasket by the windshield that seals the hood, that has been proven to create a cowl effect and greatly reduce temps.

to adjust the hood height just unscrew the black bumpers by the headlights that will raise the hood up a bit

This is how mine happend, I got into a fender bender, and the little black bracket that is holding the bumper with liek 4 bolts is bent down a bit so the gap is bigger, I left it like that when I had my frame lined back up.
