To swap in a Mitsu 4G63 will be very expensive and a completely custom job. Check of the "things we've seen before" forum for more info. We have Chrysler 420A engines and I suggest you get the howell kit and turbo charge it. Again, you will find all your answers in the other forum.

You want to get a 4g63 front clip from Japan and swap? Good god, it'd be much cheaper to sell your car and buy a 4g63 powered car... Or you could be different and turbo your non-turbo car... there is much sucess with the 420a engine. Enough to keep you happy, I am sure.

are you saying your shop wants 1700 to machine the block? or 1000? either number is way too high i think. you should only be paying a few hundred for the machine work on teh block and another few hundred for the labor to install the bottom end kit. no way should you be paying 1700 for that. but what number goes to what?

why do you want a JDM eclipse engine anyway, there really isn't much JDM about an eclipse seeing as how they're exported from the US to Japan. If your compression number are good and I mean like brand new good I would just get the turbo kit. Go for the new NER turbo kit, it's got the best stuff from the HRC and Star kits. Really good compression would be like 210+ then decent is like 170+ and crappy is like 130-150. if you have 200+ compression I say go for it and do the turbocharging. If its lower than that get the rebuild kit first.

I didn't know there was a japanese 420A... well there isn't...
You can't have a Japanese Chrysler engine :-) , though there is a Mexican (420A) Chrysler engine. There was a post like a few months ago, and this guy was talking about importing a "JDM 420A engine", but quickly everyone found out he was a fake. Anyways, I would suggest building up the 420A, since they are cheaper if you blow it up from tuning :-) plus, there is alot of aftermarket support for it...

There are quick 420A-powered cars...
The HRC guys (I think there turbo kits are better than Star's) did a 11.5 second run with a turbo, a DFI, and upgraded fuel and internals. But there Stage V kit does carry a hefty price, at $6k or $7k, last time I checked. Also, I heard about a HRC 420A powered 9-second Neon, well I hope those guys read this post :-)

The ONLY good thing about the 4G63 is that its internals can support upto 400hp and thats it! The non-turbo 4G63 found in the Lancers, I heard was only 115hp compared to our 140hp, and then the 4G63 complain about how we have a higher compression than they do. But I think that they are very dependant on their turboes and without it, they would have nothing... hint hint have you ever seen a 4G63 all-motor car?

The only cost effective way of doing a swap is just going out and buying a 4G63 powered car...

If you still want a swap, of any kind, I would suggest swapping in the 3000GT/Stealth TT 3.0L V6 6G73 motor...

i think he was referring to the jdm 4g63 swap... i think <shrugs>.. anyway.. i would just go with the rebuild/turbo kit or just.. or if you were so inclined to have the 4g63.. i would just buy one. they are both great engines, and both have their flaws... but the 4g63 does have a bigger aftermarket. then again, there is something in saying that you have a turbo charged 420a! hehe. good luck to ya

i have a nice stereo and new paint also new front bumper that's why i want to keep the car
