I go in for a oil change today and what do I find out, well when the car was lifted I noticed there was rust every where, while I was looking the mechanic noticed a big oil leak, he starts laughing and I ask him why, he says dude this car has 19,000 miles and it has a big oil leak, thats mitsubishi for you. So I couldn't change the oil because the new oil will just leak out faster than the old, now I have to go to satan and give them a piece of my mind and try to get this shit fixed. I don't get it, why would my engine have a oil leak, I never beat on it or anything and it always had the oil changed every 3000 miles, this sucks :( :'(

well first of all you can tell him "that's chrysler for him, not mitsubishi"

and second, if your valve cover gasket or spark plug seals are blown then an oil leak is definately the result. those are easy fixes, and either way, everything you have is still under warranty.

Like i said in my last post,a piece of crap.Three mechanics refused to work on my car because of its reputation.They said it gave nothing but problems,he suggested i get rid of it.He said chrysler used the cheapest seals and gaskets on this car.This is the list of my problems in the last 6 months.

1.spark plug seals 3 of them
2.head gasket
3.oil pan gasket
4.water pump
5.timing belt
6.thermosat
7.tensioner
8.pulley (timing belt)
9.camshaft sensor
10.warped rotors all four

total: 1700.00 in 6 months
Now is this a good car,with 60,000 milesx(

Oh ,i forgot after all this ,the car has only 110 hp to the wheels.MOST cars will whip your ass ! Ha ha This is strictly a chic car,which just looks pretty and goes nowhere.Get a real sportscar.I don't want to diss anyone on this site,but these cars are poorly designed and chrysler should be informed.I hope no one gets offended just venting.

I don't give a rat's ass what your mechanic's said - by no means are the gaskets on the 420A cheap or sub par. The valve cover gaskets are molded silicone, the head gasket a multi-layer steel, the oil pan a rubber-on-steel affair. This motor is designed to not leak. The gaskets are excellent quality and readily available. They are also cheap and easy to install.

if you had any idea how to work on this car, and any idea of the mechanics involved, you'd understand. The fact of the matter is that no amount of convincing will make any difference. i can disprove everything that you say with facts and numbers, your mind is made up about this car and this engine, and nothing will change it. So be it - sell me your car. i'll make it run 12's and you can go fuck yourself.

i hit a nerve,this site is full of complaits about this car,and all have the same faults.Chrysler is known for having shitty cars and the talon and eclipse 420a are no exception.If you spent the money you spent on your eclipse on a real sports car you would be doing 10s and 3 second 0 to 60's.I think the mitsubishi GST or GSX are a good sports car but its bastard child the rs/gs/talon(420a) are crap.And if you took a look at the american better business site chrysler has over 500 complaints about the talon/rs/gs and they are all about the problems i have had ,and others on this site.Are you going to tell me a man with a car that has 19,000 should have a blown gasket of any sort.i went through this site and found that over 30 to 50 people have had headgasket problems are you seeing a trend here.Chrysler took the real eclipse GSX/GST and fucked it up with the 420a(neon engine).

I have a small oil leak cause i ran over a curb and dented my oil pan. now it leaks a tiny amount of oil, and i mean really tiny. Im gonna replace it soon.

i had an oil leak and it was fixed with a $44 valve gasket kit. Replaced the ORIGINAL valve gasket at 90,000 miles. Doesnt sound too shabby to me.

Real Muscle? Ford cars are sad too when looked at the hp . an LS1 has more "real Power" when you look at it that way. Besides I like my car, its taken tons of abuse and the little things it does back to me are minor compared to what Ive put it through. Oh and Dont diss neons, Hahn's neon is nothing to laugh at , and overall it costs less than that mustang gt is gonna cost you. Sad to know a neon can hand you your ass hugh?

I would never sell to my car to someone else. I treat my car as it should be treated, I'm just really pissed that I got a bad oil leak at only 19,000 miles, I hope this will be covered by the warranty because if it won't be I'm screwed cause I'm broke

this thread is getting out of control my 99rs has 40,000mi and i have no leaks. and as far as the get a real car comment goes "gst", 420a dont deal w/crankwalk when turboed buddy! and no ford will ever look as good a an eclipse.

Is it really that bad of a leak?? Mine has one and i believe they are all original seals. I jus treplaced the valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets at 96k. I am satisified. As far as mustangs....If i had the same amount of money you are spending on that thing....I could pay for my car and run....i'd say mid to high 12's. Now i believe that will schitte on most mustangs any day of the week. My dad traded his Mustang in for an Aspire because he was so dissappointed with it.

I'm sorry fellas, but enough of this Ford smashing. I have an Eclipse 2GNT with some suspension and what not but I also have (well, me and my dad) a Shelby Cobra kit car we're building powered by a brand new GT-40 302 that will put out 360 hp (crank) in naturally aspirated form. Just because the 5.0 came with 225 stock doesn't mean anything. I'm sure most of you here started with 140 at the crank. Mods are mods, it doesn't matter what car. To the guy with the Z28, I respect your car, good handling, lots of power. Also very unreliable from everything I've ever read and experienced, I've got 3 friends with Camaros that are in the shop once a month at the very least. This site isn't here for smashing any brand, talk crap about Ford if you want but my '92 pickup runs strong as ever without ever being in the shop. The Mustang I ran hard every time I drove it that is now my friend's has 113K miles and has only been in the shop for a burnt out alternator. Even you guys that hate Honda should be ashamed. All cars have their good and bad tendencies. Whether you have a 1.6/1.8 B-series that sounds like a bumble bee or a rumbling 302 or a Viper V-10, respect other people's cars, we're all mod brothers together and it should be our love of cars that brings us together, not our brand wars that tears us apart. This infighting is ridiculous and I think it should stop. RESPECT.
