27199, IAC Posted by Dave_FL, Jul-11-02 11:59 AM
Where exactly is it? How do I check it to make sure its OK? What should I do to clean it? I am trying to rule out a few possibilities that are causing my bad idle. I know it was posted before but the search doesnt work.

iac= idle air control.. so it controls your 'idle' ...its located under the tb i believe it has two screw holding it on... you will have to remove the intake pipe to the tb and remove the 4 bolts holding the tb to get to it... hmm i forgot how u check it ill have to look...

Remove it from the TB and manually clean it with a toothbrush and TB cleaner. Then check the resistance as shown above.

Check the resisitance? Is that a drawing of the electrical connection on it? Thanks corbin you always come through on all the technical questions.

27204, UPDATE Posted by Dave_FL, Jul-14-02 09:09 AM
I checked the resistance and I got 55 for both. I cleaned out the throttle body and the IAC hole. The actual IAC probe was really dirty. I cleaned everything off. But I still have the bad idle. IT either has to be timing but I checked the gears and they look fine or it has to be something wrong with the head work I got done. But the machinist said he didnt do anything that would cause a bad idle. This is extremely frustrating.

yeah i have the exact same problem I just had head work done and my top end rebuilt as well as putting on cam gears. I have a really bad idle if it sits for about 10 sec or more plus it takes a couple seconds to start to. If you had your head p&p the bad idle could be from that. Let me know if u get it fixed.
