Hey I have a friend who can hook me up with some free JP8 (Airplane Fuel) He says if you put about a quart in with a tank of gas it wont hurt your car if you dont do it too often. My question is, is he right? and if he is how much will I get performance wise out of it?

yeah, but you drive a car, not an airplane... as for "it won't hurt your car"... neither will taking a crap on the hood but that doesn't mean it's a great idea.

well I heard that it will increase HP that is what I was wondering about, I wanted someone to answer that knew something not somebody that takes craps on the hood of their car =)

Using higher octane fuels (or airplane fuel I guess) will allow you to run higher boost without getting as much knock, but I don't think the fuel itself will increase horsepower.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

JP8 is used for jet engines, and in a case where JP8 fuel is not available, diesel is used as an alternative, our engines only takes gasoline so if you try to run your engine on JP8 even its mixed with gas, say bye-bye to your seals and gaskets around your engine.

I had a huge rightup on the fuel. AOL KICKE ME OFF...Mistaffolish is right...Deisel is used in those bigass planes....remeber that one the crashed in afafaganistan or whereever? that plan wass runnin on straight deisel. DO ADDITIVES. so that leads me to belive the octane rating would be lower insted of hihger....oh yea... you can run diesel in the 420a... i have seen it...SMOKE LIKE A MUTHA...suprisingly his engine dint blow either...well just buy some race gas...oh yea it does increase HP...or increase sumthing cause when i boost with it i looooooove it/

OH YEA.....If you can find a airfield with the Brand " Cessna " planes or ultralights that fly in alot...they sell race gas " 117 octane here.

Race fuel alone will not increase horsepower. There will be less detonation, therfore allowing you to run higher boost. I wouldn't go putting race fuel in your car until you are running higher HP levels. You will be wasting your money IMO.

ya, wat they all said... our cars are tuned from the factory to run on 87 octane, and rich... this helps prevent detonation and knock... when turboed, u gotta worry a lil more w/fuel, and w/the use of higher octane (which makes less chance for detonation/knock) you can run higher boost levels.....

...anything else that non leaded gas is VERY harmful to your car like 1 person here said, you CANNOT run diesel in your car. One thing about it is it's octane rating is insane, but again can't be used. They run compressions upwards of 12:1 becasue it's so thick and the easiest gas is to make. I got into an argument about this with a chemist and mechanical engineer a few years ago. The only thing higher octane gas does is decrease your chance of knock, preignition, detonation, predetonation, autoignition, whatever you want to call it. High octane gas lets you take advantage of more potential through tuning. With high octane someone could run more boost than on normal gas like 91-93. Anyway it doesn't add power unles you take advantage of it. In my case on 12.5:1 compression I couldn't run 87 octane maybe, 89 with some more timing retard but I'm using the knock resistance by bumping my compression so high to gain more HP. Hopefully that helps explain how it all works.
