26705, My NOT-SO-happy 4th of July.....
Posted by dougie2, Jul-06-02 02:50 PM
On my 45-minute drive home at about midnight I was run off the road by a huge jacked-up truck. I ended up in a ditch and luckily a group of about 10 guys stopped and helped me lift/push my car back onto the road. I noticed my front was damaged but it was f'ed up already. Well, about 2 minutes later my oil light came on and I pulled over just in time to hear my engine lock up......

...well... while I was popping the hood a cop pulls over next to me and asks if I've been drink (I hadn't been drinking for hours)... long story short, I refused the test and went to jail.

When I went to check out my car today, I looked underneith and my oilpan is completely bust and there are metal shavings in oil from the dipstick. I can't get my car until Monday to check out the internals but I'm wondering what you guys think. It'd be nice if I could replace the shortblock and rebuild, but I don't know if the head would be fucked up too or not. Whatcha think?

on a side note, the cop thought I was dealing Xanax because I didn't have a label on my prescription bottle and I had $400 cash on me which he also took, so I guess my attorney gets to ass-rape me again *sigh*

What a shitty 4th of July... I hope you guys can cheer me up. :(

Wow, that sucks bad. Any way to track down the jacked up truck? make, model, rims, etc that would destinguish it? You shouldnt have refused the test bro, even though I know you were just pissed off cause of everything that happened... but that just lets them build their little case and shit... I would report the truck for sure, hope you did... Your engine will need to be rebuild if there is shavings in the oil.... its locked up... damn shame, but atleast your ok.

I have no clue about the truck other than it was huge! It was really dark in the country and it just cut me off. Normally, I would have submitted to the alcohol test but my attorney has advised me to never do so, rather innocent or guilty. Anyways... *sigh*

So you think the entire engine is locked or maybe just the bottom end? Also, I'm thinking that insurance should cover it because it happened in an accident... if so, I'd like to get an estimate and have them cut me a check so I can build the engine up and get an aftermarket front.

well, if the engine is locked up there is a good chance that they will say your car is totaled. You might get lucky like me, they will give you the money for your car which should be at least 9K. Then u buy your car back and use the extra money to rebuild. this could all be a blessing in disguise. Oh, and get your $400 back!
