alright..here's the deal guys...i have a cel code of 43 (i've been reading about it...multiple cylinder misfire, and a few other things). I took a road trip to myrtle beach last week (400 miles each way) and since i've come back my car has been sounding funny. When i started the car there would be a nasty ass noise which sounded like it was coming from under the driver's side. i got the oil changed yesterday and later that night i was coming home on the highway and my cel starts flasing at me. It flashed about 10 times then stayed on constantly for a couple minutes then started flashing again. i get off the highway and then my car starts sounding like a helicopter and when i get to the top of the street my idle dips way down so i give it gas so it wont shut off. i coast down my street and it the car turns off. i tried restarting it about 3 times and on the third time i gave it gas. it sounded absolutey horrible but it got the car into my driveway. so now the car wont start and im getting a cel code 43. it tries to turn over but it just cant. i looked under the hood and theres oil on the valve cover.

whats wrong and what do i need to replace? sorry for the length, but i didnt want to leave anything out that might be helpful.

Well, it is a misfire problem. I would start by replacing the plugs, and if the problem continues, replace the plug wires. Those are the 2 easy things that may have gone awry. After that, give the coil pack a shot. Coil packs have been known to fail, but they are a bit more pricey then plugs and wires. If that doesn't work, then it is possible that your cam/crank angle sensors are faulty, but if they aren't, then the problem is either wiring or the ECU. Start with plugs and wires, though.

Edit: By the way, my guess is that your valve cover gasket is leaking and took out either your plugs, wires, and or coil packs.

It sounds a bit more serious if you see oil under the hood now... I would wait to see what others say about this.

Isn't there something about when the CEL flashes at you that's different from when it just comes on steady? I don't know, I thought I heard something about that.

It only flashes during severe misfire, from what I have read. Meaning to tell the driver, "See? This is what I am hearing! Don't you notice it?" Just tries to get the car's brain's point across.

Maybe you just cracked a plug, def. check the plugs

Well, I am sure that a cracked plug would not be covered under warantee, as it is an $0.87 part, and a good thing to change as a part of regular maintainance. The wires won't be too much money either (30-50 for a good set), and are also a good thing to change regularly. The plugs are really easy to replace. Remove the wire (pull it out by the boot), get a 3/8" spark plug socket and a long extension (6" or more), stick the extension on the socket, reach down into the plug well, put a ratchet onto the extension, loosen the plug, pull it out, replace it, and put the wire back on. As for wires, they connect in 2 places, the coil pack, and the spark plug. Shouldn't take more then 5-10 minutes to do all 4 plugs and wires. Might also be a good idea to do one wire at a time so that you don'e mess up the order. The coil packs are marked, though, and the cylinders are numbered 1-4 from left to right.

If your under warranty, shit take it in, they will cover what ever is wrong with it, thats what warranties are for, and they will cover the cracked plug too. Take it in. You payed for the warranty, get your money out of it

well...i had it towed to the stealership. they only got a chance to look at it today but they ran a compression test and there is no compression in cylinder 2. wtf now???!?!

Damn, no compression? Could be a headgasket. Ask them to check the timing on the motor. It is possible that your timing belt skipped a tooth or two and gernaded a valve or two... Maybe a cracked piston. I don't know what to say, it is tough to diagnose internal problems without actually seeing the car.
