26001, engine break in ? Posted by 1TuffRS, Jun-25-02 04:46 PM
OK, I know that Im not supposed to drive the car continuously (sp) at a certain rpm until after the first 500 miles, but I work about 30 min away from campus and have to get on the interstate to get there. Should I just modulate my speed constantly or will I be alright at a constant speed?? Also after I change the oil after the first 500 miles will I be good for the next 3000 or should I change it before then?? TIA

if you want to stay at a certain speed but fluctuate the rpms, just keep shifting back and forth between 4th and 5th and maybe even 3rd every so often.

What about the oil changes?

Chiltons says to do oil changes at 500, 1500, and every 3000 after that.
Also says: Don't lug or over rev the engine during breakin!
(So I guess that means just vary your RPMs moderately up and down. I'm gonna take a drive up PCH, it's nice and hilly.)
