25825, Fuel pump/filter

Okay, just wondering how do I know when my fuel pump is going bad etc...or if I need to change the filter, also what about rewiring it or whatevs. I just started college so now I put a shitload more miles on my car every other day, round trip for me on a day I have to go to school is about 120 miles. My gas mileage is really shitty too im lucky to get like 300 to the tank even on highway miles. My cars got a 108,000 miles on it now and I really dont think that the 60k service was done which is a very sketchy deal, and I dont have enough money at the moment to get the service done. Anyway, I sorta got off topic there, but if anyone could give me some pointers Id be very grateful :) thanks.

well just replace your fuel filter if your not sure...it wont hurt... get a multimeter and check the pump to make sure its working right... it should work or your car would not be running right...
