My friend keeps telling me that I should advance my timing and my car will be faster - Not alot but still noticeable. Is there any truth to this? How much should I advance the timing by?

BTW since I sound like an idiot in the subject, I am. I am not doing it but a shop who tunes cars would do it for me. Just thought I'd ask you guys first :)

You cant advance the timing on our cars like that. You could get a resistor and wire that in, but eventually the ECU would recognize whats going on and the new found power will be lost.

Yup, our cars are distributorless and ignition timing is electronically controlled by the ecu. You can't permanently and physically advance engine timing.
