25204, Anyone have a CEL go away for no reason?

Just curious, anyone ever have a CEL go away for a while for no reason? I've had a CEL for the past 1.5 years since I have no downstream o2 sensor (code 21) and multiple cylinder misfire (code 43). For the past couple of days the light went away and has not come back for no reason. Weird. Anyone have that happen?

Yeah, that happened to me a few times. My O2 sensor went bad probably a year ago and i've had a CEL ever since. Sometimes though, it will not come on for a week or so for no reason. A few times, it was off when I first started the car, but came on after 9-10 miles. Other times it would be on every minute the car was running. Really weird. If I disconnect the battery, it will also stay off for a few days and then come on again... and stay on. I stopped trying to figure out why it's doing that :)

Maybe I should just fix the problem? :rolleyes

I've had mine blink for 30 seconds or so for no reason while driving, but not throw a code.

I've also had it come on then clear itself after a few minutes, and when I go home and plug in the scan tool no code is there.

acctually i believe that after a while a code will try to clear itself and when it does that it will then come back on when it realizes the problem is still there. also some problems are not there all the time like if you have a TPS going bad it may go out of spec, throw a code then come back into spec then go back out and so on.

yup, ECU will only run tests for everything as satan says "during the right conditions" whatever the hell that is, but it'll clear itself right before it runs the test, same thing happened to me with my rear O2 before I did the bypass

hehe CEL came back on again today. I guess it does re-run these tests every once in a while (like resetting itself). I think my idle has been a bit worse since the CEL reset itself too, or it may just be my imagination.
