I have been noticing my gas gauge do some funky crap lately and was wondering if any of you guys were experiencing the same thing. Well when Im on the highway and driving along at around 80mph my gauge will read 1/4 tank, but once I get off the highway (i mean im like just leaving the offramp) and look at my gauge again and it will be damn near at E. Ive noticed that it will also go up once I get on the highway. Is my gauge busted???

my guage has been sticking at 3/4 of a tank, then suddenly jumps down when i run it to half a tank. ive seen your issue on other cars before. i think it has something to do with the sensor inside the tank.

I have the same problem with my oil gauge. It will be in the middle then sometimes during idle it will shoot all the way to the top, then even back out when i drive again. I just had an oil change a week ago and my rheostat was changed about 6 months ago. Don't know and am honestly not to concerned.....should I be?

try taking out your cluster and putting it back in. those things are electrical. my turbo guage did that after installing indiglos, wouldnt work at all then suddenly shoot way up! i pulled the entire cluster and put it back in, problem sovled.

I meant thermostat NOT rheostat! UGH.

Your oil pressure is not always the same. Oil pressure during idle differs from oil pressure during accelaration.

with gas gauges (and other gauges) if the it's ground isn't connected too well, it will give you false/bouncing readings. I think that's what the problem is with my gas gauge.. when it's low on gas it'll flucuate between below red and 1/4 tank.. hehe..
