the last few days ive been noticing a gas smell in my garage when i pull in. today i thought i could smell it in the car driving home. my dad thinks the smell is coming out of the exhuast, but i cant really tell. the last couple days the car has been running alot stronger too and my exhaust seems a lit louder. any ideas? also ive noticed the gas guage keeps getting stuck at 3/4 tank, and then will start working again. my car has a stock turbo and the only major mod was the intake, cone filter.. etc.. but that was months ago.

maybe a bad 02 sensor, causing you to run rich????? are you getting any check engine codes??

sure its a gas smell, maybe rotten egg smell caused by bad catalytic conv.

its definatly a gas smell. smells like fresh gas out of the gas station. no engine codes at all.

I get that sane gas smell occasionaly while i am driving. Satan thinks i am full of sh!t...

Check your gas lines and fuel pump. Something could be punctured. Do you have a check engine light on?

no check engine light. i dont think its leaking gas cause theres nothing on the garage floor! funny thing is, the last few days my car has been running great! whatever the hells going on its making it faster. maybe my car is possessed!

is it possible if i was sucking in too much air it could cause this? cause i have made modifciations to the intake to allow maxiumum airflow, but i havent made any other mods. i basically have a stock mitsu turbo, kn airfilter, and a 1st gen BOV. but i made those mods a long time ago. when i opened up the intake did i need to make any other adjustments to compensate for increased air??

check your fuel lines and exhuast system. Does the smell only come out of the muffler? DO a compression check and check your plus while your at it. You could have a dead cylinder that isn't burning off the gas. My MR2 has a bad 3rd cylinder and when I start it up it smells like hella unburned fuel O_o
