24494, hp from p&p intake and 3 angle valve job Posted by joshacu, Jun-04-02 04:28 AM
hey guys, i was just tring to get some realistic hp numbers from a p&p intake, p&p head and 3 angle valve job. also is it worth it to get your intake done at ard then extrude honed, or should you just do one or the other. thanks -Josh

I had my intake mani done by ARD, and all they do is open up the ports, they barely touch the inside of the mani. Not hating, cuz their throttle body is good work, but I went to NAPA bought a tool for my drill and actually polished the whole inside of both parts of my manifold!!!! You can see in their pics that they don't touch the full inside of it..... Good luck though.

Basically all a port and polish on a intake manifold does is opening up the ports and smoothing them out. If you want the runners smoothed out and cleaned up as well, check out Extrue Honing (www.extrudehone.com).

Yup, extrude hone is the only way to go to get the inside runners really evened out and opened up. That's why I didn't end up getting my intake manifold ported and polished when I had the head off the car because I was told extrude honing was way better (but expensive).
