24331, Neon 95-99 Posted by Edclipse96RS, Jun-02-02 05:19 AM
My friend owns a 95-99 Neon Sport with the 2.0L DOHC Engine. No more than 2 weeks ago he got in a hige front end collision, the car was declared totaled. I was wondering if and what parts are there off of his car that I could use in future to improve my 96 Eclipse RS. Could I use the Transmission, would it be a bolt-on? Could I swap his Rear Rotors for my Drums? Interiors Parts? TIA

I would also like to know if a 5 spd tranny from a neon is the same as ours..it's a whole lot cheaper at the junk yard for a neon tranny.

we pretty much can't use anything from the neon but it's engine parts, everything is like backwards...

THe rotors will not bolt up to ours. Our brakes are Mitsubishi manufactured. Any interior part also will not fit. Remember that we only share certain parts of the engine; therfore, the entire vehicle is not identical. What is the name of the Neon tranny? I forgot what model number it was.

How much work would be involved in using the Neon's Rear Rotors and the Transmission is a A604? I think....

The neon's internalks are the same. The internal manual trans parts are the same, not sure on the housing. Othat than that, there's isn't many similarities

are you positive on the internals?...because i can't seem to find any performance/rebuild kits for 5spd trannies only auto's..and neon trannies are cheaper at junkyard so was wondering if i can swap just the internals.

Yes, Kyle is doing the swap with syncros and fifth gear now. Armond I think already has, etc. I eventually wanmt to swap 5th gears. The clutch and internals are the same.

The first gen neon tranny is a New Venture gear NV-T350 or A-578 is the dodge designation.

So is it swap-able or not? I know the T350 number comes up in ALLDATA for 2gnt's but I was not aware that it comes up for the Neon. The bellhousing must atleast be similar since it is a 420A block. How about sensors, and CV shaft lengths, linkage placement, ECT...?

The bell housing and tranny case are different but the internal parts are the same. There are a few different gear ratios that the neons were available with though so you should check in to see what car the neon tranny came from so you don't get a 3.55 final drive ratio unless you want it.
