24279, Oil Pressure Gauge Install ? Posted by Lee, Jun-01-02 06:48 AM
Okay, I'm having a hell of a time getting the wiring harness off of the sending unit. How exactly does it come off?

Depends on the year of the car. On the later ones there is a red tab that needs to be pulled off the green harness and then the green harness can be pulled off the pressure sensor.

You can see the green harness in this picture and the little black slot is where the red piece was.
Good luck.

Yeah, I've got those red clips. Did you just use needlenose pillars to pull those bastards off?

Yeah I used needle nose to pull the red clip and then a normal set of pliers to grab the green harness and pull it off.

I pulled very very hard and it broke :)
It stays on nicely too still

On my 99 GS, I didn't pull the red piece out. It just slid back and forth between a locked and unlocked position.

yeah dont pull the whole red clip out. just slide it all the way to the other side, and press the tab (probably facing away from you) and slide it back off, no pliers needed... its pretty easy.. you cna practice on one of the sensors in the engine bay thats easier to access, like near the valvecolver.

I thought that we aren't supposed to use Electronic Oil Press. guages because we keep blowing the sensors?
Is there anything we can do about this?

Well, I thought I blew my sensor in my electronic oil pressure gauge; so I buy a new one and same thing, no pressure reading. Well to make a long story short, the way I installed the gauge the sender wasn't grounded. The sender is usually groung when installed into a metal 'T', but mine wasn't installed into a 'T' and therefore wasn't ground. So I grounded the sender and it worked fine.

Is that why everyones would read fine then go sky high?
I thought people actually blew their sensors and had them replaced and had the samething happen again?
