2425, Level 10 for autos?
Posted by 9D9 MITSU RS, May-26-01 03:23 PM
Wha's the deal with this? Is there a website? Is thisa new tranny, or a tranny build kit? If it's a build kit, I can do it myself. I work in an auto tranny shop. Also, I heard the TQ converter, I hear u need mad power b4 it works right. Someone give me the scoop on this> PLEASE! I would love to have a faster automatic car.

mitsu ... no way do u need alot of power for the converter. Since u know about trannies just imagine your tq converter for a minute ... the stall speed is 2200 rpms ... now when you power break launch .. the engine has to build its rpms all the way to 6500 . with the new tq converter at level10 you can launch at your choice of stall speed . when i talked to them they said the optimal stall for street is 3500rpms ... so now with that installed you can negate the slow building rpms from 2200 up to 3500rpms .. making u spin nicely and grab the 4000 range much quicker ( 4000 rpms is where the power begins ) so with that in mind expect to - 1.2 secs off the e/t and your 0-60 times also will be improved ... now with proper modding .. ( cold air ,udp ,exaust and even headers you would be looking at a low 15 quater time ..with boost who knows. and thats with a just a $500 mod .. since you dont have to worry about tranny labor ... where are u located btw ? since u work there maybe we could buy them and install in your shop ... ( i tip nicely..lol )

You also have to realize that with a higher stall speed, the car will feel slower up to the new stall speed as opposed to stock.

There are some companies that simply keep the stall speed but increase the torque multiplication.

We only do domestics and some, but very few imports. My dad owns it, so that's why we could do mine, but I dunno. Maybe if u ever came around, we would hook u up. t's in Lexington, North Carolina. I know u haven't heard of it. LOL. S, the level 10 isn't a tranny or a build kit? It's just a new converter? I saw on one post u said something about level 10's being more than 500 and being capable of beating 5 speeds in the 1/4?

sonic the slower 1000 - 3500 is probably why they claim a higher top speed for the at huh ? but who really cares if u lose that .if you are going to race just power break over it .. if your not racing .. just relax and cruise lol

I would like some level 10 info too. Could you just post it? If not, could you forward it to me at BennettWW9@cs.com? Thanks, man. I have been meaning to e-mail them, but I haven't had time.
Thanks again,

What's up Bill. Remember me? I am the one that sold you the Eclipse glasses on eBay a while back. That is really cool that you go here also. So how have you been? School going good? I haven't heard from you in a long time and I don't get online as often and with the amount of time I used to. Back then I was unemployed and had plenty of time to e-mail people. Hope to hear from ya..see you later, Rob (GSsport)

Hey man, how's it going? I see that you have a few more mods then you did before. Me too. I put on a cone filter, and I am fabbing some PVC piping to put it in a colder place then the engine bay. I think that I will then put some thermal wrap on so it doesn't look so ghetto (might keep the air cooler too?). Also, I threw on a turbo muffler. I didn't realize that it was from a GSX until I recieved it, so I cut it about an inch back from the can. Sounds great though, if I may say so myself.
I see that you finally got that UD pulley installed... how's it feel? I bet it pulls a lot harder. Did you convince your mechanic that he wouldn't lose his smog license, or did you wind up doing it yourself? Everything else running fine? How's the new job? What is the new job?
School is going great... just polished off a second year, and I am taking some (4) courses this summer. Just can't get enough of that edjumacation!
E-mail me if you ever have a spare second!

Oracle- Thats not what I meant. Going to a higher stall speed will decrease engine power. So if you went to say a 4K rpm converter, your car will not really "go" until 4K. In other words, it will suck 99% of the time your not at the drap stip. You will lose gas mileage cause you are bogging the engine too. A torque converter has nothing to do with top speed, unless there is more torque multiplication included.

Sounds right to me. This sounds like a drag car only mod. Our stall speeds at stock aren't too shabby. I think turbo or nitrous is the suggestion to bring out the ponies with the RS automatics. Or autos in general. I was asking my dad b/c he has worked at his shop all his life. He said that it wouldn't really "move" until that stall speed was reached. It's basically for a better launch, but damn, why sacrifice 2,000 RPM's for a higher rev for take off? If u want that, just hit it in Neutral. No stall speed there, u can go as high as u want. Sure it's dangerous, but u are still good for the street.
