ok guys if you've seen other posts, my engine is hydro locked i threw a rod through the oil pan, my dad has a friend that works for a rental car place, they had a 98 neon dohc, stolen 3 years ago everything stripped but the engine, he said he'll let us have it for free since it's been there forever, it's got like miles for a 98 since it hasn't ran in 3 year, what yall think , it is pretty much the same engine as far as the intake Manifold, block, head, and exh mani. right ? i wouldn't use the tranny or anything else . .

Actually, sorry to say this, but it wont work.you could probably use internals etc, but the head is different.On the Neons the exhaust comes out the back of the engine, and the intake if towards the front of the car.I'm pretty sure it spins the opposite way of ours too.

As I understand it, everything below the head is the same. The headgaskets, blocks, and internals all swap out. As long as you threw the rod DOWN and didn't hurt anything else, you should be golden with that neon block. Check your head very carefully though! :)

You will also need a new oil pan from an Eclipe/Talon/Avenger/Sebring, as we have a crossmember which the front motor mount bolts to.
