23967, Motor Mount Question...........
Posted by 95ALLmotorFWD, May-27-02 04:03 PM
which should i go for, The AFX solid motor mount, or the Energy motor mount kit?????

The AF/X mount is mainly used for cars used only at the track. Energy Suspension motor mounts inserts are sufficient to eliminate most wheel hop.

I'm not sure about either 1, but Raktron has a little procedure on strengthening the stock mounts w/ windo weld. Haven't tried it yet myself, just saw it out there.

P.S.

Yeah I don't really even notice the shaking from the Energy suspension motor mounts anymore. I don't have a problem with wheel hop anymore like the car did stock. It only took about an hour to put in the back one and 30 minutes or so for the front. I installed the front first and then drove around for an hour or so then put in the rear one. I did notice a LARGE reduction in wheel hop with just the front one and even more so after the back one was put in. I did notice the vibration increase more as the first and second mounts were put in but after a few days, I didn't even notice anymore. :thumbsup

I HIGHLY recommend motor mounts as a first mod, they are cheap and give a LOT of gains for the price.

Yeah the vibration isnt bad at all. I personally think it feels good, like the power is going somewhere instead of just torqueing the motor.

Is a set considered all 4? If so it only $20 bucks!!?

Also you can use them on an auto right?

Yup, $20 for all four pieces -- 2 each for the front, 2 for the rear. I just installed the Energy Suspension insert this weekend, and I like it a lot. At idle, you'll feel a slight vibration, but it's not all that bad. And, when you are rolling from a stop to accelerate, you will feel a slight vibration as well, because the roll stopper is stiffened, it doesn't allow the engine to rock back and forth as much. You'll really like it, in between shifts, and when you are lanuching. The car feels tight, and of course, no wheel hop!
