23815, Oil problem Posted by weepul, May-26-02 05:36 AM Ok, so I did about what any woman would do that doesn't know a thing about cars, except I did it just because I was too busy/lazy. I didn't get an oil change for about 9k! Between then, I added a tital of about 2 1/2 quarts, but still problem occured. Near the time I was going to get the oil changed and up till now, whenever I accelerate I hear this rattle or knocking sound in my engine....doesn't soundg good, but does anyone know what it may be? Sounds expensive ;( | |

23820, RE: Oil problem Posted by weepul, May-29-02 05:25 AM Yup, turns out it was the fucking rod knocking, so now apparently I'm stuck with either rebuilding the bottom end or getting a salvaged motor.....fucking great. The guy said at least $1500 for the used motor if it had low miles (my car's a '96), excluding labor. He also said the rebuild would be more expensive than replacing the motor. Any suggestions? Remember, I'm not made of money ;( | |
