23764, Engine Rebuild kits

Could I combine the top and bottom end rebuild kits(howell)? I want to achieve good top and bottom end performance.I don't see why I can't combine them, just thought I would ask anyway. And when I eventually upgrade to a turbo is there any other internals I should upgrade in addition to either/both of these kits? I just started a second job SOLELY for my car...so I am planning to go all out in the next few months. I still have a lot to learn, that is why i am doing my homework before I jump in anything. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. For the record, I have learned more about cars/DSMs since i joined(3 months ago) than I have learned since I got into the import scene(Feb.1999).

I'm not sure but it sounds like you think that the bottom end kit is for low-rpm performance and the top end is for top rpm performance.

Well maybe thats just the way I interpreted it.

Anyway, yea you can get both kits. Our heads are good to 400HP so I PERSONALLY wouldn't touch the head until I was Stage 3++.

Actually that is what i thought. So if it doesn't mean that, does it mean top end as in top of the engine and bottom end as in the bottom?

I'm still learning, just smack me around a bit.

Yeah the head is referred to as the top end and the bottom end is your block. It's better to learn than to not learn at all :)

Check out the "Things we've seen before"

There is a LOT of good reading in there.

Basically. Top end is cams, valves, valve springs, etc.. While bottom end it pistons, rods, rings, bearings, crank, etc...

Get both kits and you will have a COMPLETELY rebuilt engine with all new gaskets and seals.

The top end kit comes with those stronger PT cruiser lash adjusters or lifter whatever they're called. Heard ours can't take as much a beating as those badboys. With those you can probably rev high without worring too much. :)
