23743, OBX Univ. Muffler............. Posted by rynxprs, May-24-02 08:16 AM
My friend has a 97 Eclipse GS. He bought an OBX universal muffler that has a center inlet.
He was told that it wouldn't work because his factory is offset and there is not enough room to run an extra pipe because of the struts or something.
Is he SOL or is there a solution to this problem.
If he is SOL...what mufflers can he get instead? He doesn't want catback...just a muffler.
Thanks.

well dude, I got a Magnaflow dual tip exhaust welded onto some stock GS pipe, loud as hell too, sounds good, I'll sell ya the entire exhaust next week when I switch out to my cat-back for 100 shipped

All eclipses, talons and avengers have offset inlets at the muffler. My current aftermarket Aerospeed muffler has a center inlet as well. However, it was hardly a problem for the muffler shop to weld a piece of pipe that accomodated the center inlet. Any muffler shop can easily do it for your friend as well.
