hey man, where are you getting the TB's from?? If you are getting them from a local junkyard or something like that could you get one for me??? I would like to try and modify it myself. How much would you charge for just the stock tb?

Hey man i think i man tackle this on my own....what year and what model are you buying to mod?

All the TB's are used. In order to make one Jeep TB, It requires a stock 420a and a jeep 4.0L.

You can try it yourself but it is hard unless you know what you are doing.

I would just call your local junkyard to see if they have any Jeep TB's

I will have 5 made and ready to ship with in 2 weeks.

The first 5 gets them, and i already got 2 ordered.

isn't 250 kinda expensive? what's your price breakdown to get those kind of numbers?
23548, RE: Jeep TB order
Posted by Da0utlaw, May-26-02 04:23 AM
I am sure the $250 involves both TBs,shipping and labor to do it. I wouldn't expect him to to this for free.

Yes the price is for shipping to you ,both TB's, and labor. Just getting to TB's is expensive.

I still got 2 for sale.

IM almost done right now, I picked up both an eclipse one and the jeep one for 50 total, got a good price. Its been simple so far, and pretty fun doing so, just have a dremel and a bunch of cutting blades, and you will be set. fun stuff. Peace
23551, Some info you need to be aware of when sizing a TB
Posted by AFX_Manufacturing, May-29-02 02:32 AM
49mm TB flows 252 cfm
52mm TB flows 283 cfm
55mm TB flows 317 cfm
60mm TB flows 377 cfm

At 8200 RPM a 122 cubic inch engine will need 290 cfm at 100% volumetric effiency, using the formula ((Max RPM/2)*Displacement)/1728. Rule of thumb is to go 10% over because a naturally aspirated engine can go above 100% volumetric efficiency because of cam overlap, header design, etc. Go above that and you kill low end because of reduced velocity, go below that you starve the engine for air at top end. 110% is volumetric efficiency is 319 cfm."

You know that you can go even further, and bore out those 60mm throttle bodies to about 65~70???

Yes I know that, but 55mm is big enough for NA applications, 60mm is to big and kills power.

He is trying to tell you that bigger is not always better. He is right. Matched airflow is far more important. Look at your application and goals before you go crazy. A lot of the same rules about airflow and velocity that we apply to exhausts also applies to intakes.

So what about with turbo how big is too big?

I'm not a N/A application, so i'm trying to have the least restrictive flow.

Ok, I am not a math whiz, but what about if you keep RPMs less than 8200? And also how much low end performance loss are we talking? Talon95Stang since you already have one installed how have you noticed your performance?

$0.02

If you don't port/bore the intake mani, then the 60 will only really flow the size of the manifold opening(55? 56?). The 2 scenarios:

1) If you're NA just slap the bitch on.
2) If you're FI, slap it on and widen that intake port.

If you're NA and want to go FI down the road, all you'd need is a bit of intake work - no need to worry bout the TB. Either way you look at it(NA/FI), upgrading to the jeep TB can ONLY be a good thing.

I don't know. Maybe I've just got my head up my ass.

Just a quick question. If the TB is the right size for the flow and RPM do we assume that the intake runners can handle this increased air and gain power compared to the drag on the engine getting it there? Also since you seem to have a nifty formula for this, do you have a formula that finds the optimum runner length for the intake based on RPM?
Thanks

thats a good question. Maybe the same person can answer how much our heads flow. Check this out - http://www.2gnt.com/dcforum/DCForumID13/5018.html

These TB's are a great mod.

I used to have a ported TB on but it really didnt help alot.

now this Jeep TB is sweet as hell. The neon guys did gain alot in the 1/4 mile.

If you are turbo I cant see staying at 55mm.

as for performance it gave me alot of throttle responce and helps on the top end.

If you want a 55mm TB then just get one, but i feel that this jeep tb is the best.

I just got all mt tb's so they will be ready soon.
i still have 2 for sale
