Ok so some of you know that i have 145,000 miles, and i talked it over with my car and we mad a decision that she needed to be rebuilt. first off i know my HG has a leak in it, oil in my antifreeze. Oil is leakin somewhere dunno where. Also I am plannin on turbo. I dont want to sell the car anymore. I figured this car is running good with the new suspension, wheels, paintjob, other shit like that, anyway. Now, should I TRY and find a 420a engine and rebuild that one or take it somewhere. I don't really have a good idea on how to rebuild but I thought if I had another engine I could maybe get a better idea n shit Plus I have some good friends or should I pay the extra money and get someone who knows what the hells goin on and tell them to do it. If I ask them to do it. How much would I expect to pay? thanks alot guys if anyone could help me out cause you know how much I love you all :thumbsup

i'm currently rebuilding and here is what i'm doing. for about the cost of buying a second engine i bought a second car, it was 600 bucks and it will now be my winter beater. I've had the car torn apart for about two months now, i just pulled the engine myself along with a friend. i'm taking it down to the shop as soon as my rebuild kit arrives ( fucking howell batards, they screwed up my order and its going to be 4 damn weeks until my back ordered fucking pistons come in, i'm a little pissed about that one). he is tearing it down and rebuilding for 300 bucks plus machine work. i figure its worth 300 dollars for me not to screw something little up and ruin it. and then i will put the engine back in and be on my mary way. pulling the engine is easy, its just time consuming.

I just spent about 3 grand on rebuilding mine including parts and labor. I am also getting some head work done and I am doing all the belts, pulleys, and pumps. My car should be back in a couple weeks.

Well the question you need to ask yourself is do you want to learn about your car?? There are plenty of resources here on probably people around you that would help you with your rebuild if you wanted to learn about your car. By the time you are done you could do just about anything to the car. Or if you just want it done without the hassle then pay someone else to do it. If it was me I would get some help and do it yourself. But thats just me.

COMPRESSION CHECK do one first and that'll let you know if you need to rebuild or not.

my compression was 156,150,155,160... wow thats what i was thinkin about 3 grand intill i was done with it... to bad kory lives in CA otherwise i would give more thought about his car...

whoa haha yeah your engine is pretty worn out. Mine is like yours 150 130 130 150. It might be higher now that I have a new exhuast manifold gasket but I won't know for sure until I do another compression check. good luck haha your engine sure made it a lot farther than mine did hehe :P Oh yeah Kory doesn't have a 2GNT anymore...
