23393, Tranny question?
Posted by jeclipse14, May-19-02 03:47 PM
This summer I want to rebuild my bottom end and add a turbo with nitrous. The problem is my car is automatic so i need to know what hp our trannys can handle, and what i could do to make it handle the power of a turbo and nitrous.
TIA
Peace

10-15lbs boost should be no problem, just have to be easy on the take off.. but to be safe I would upgrade tranny with a shift kit, tranny cooler is a must and various other internals while your in there, bands , etc...

You don't need no damn shift kit what a waste of money, imo..

If you are aiming for the 300 HP range contact level 10 and get there PTS kit and a tranny cooler if they have one available, I think they do. You might want to contact FAL for the tranny cooler they have awsome fans.

Almost forgot, id strongly recommend some sort of slip diff such as Quaife or Phantom.

About the take off id agree, at the 300 HP mark our axles start to become a factor so be easy on the take off.

Quaife does not make lsd's for the automatic tranny, only the manual

Yes, they make them for our auto because I e-mailed them and asked them about 2 months ago and they told me "yes we have them".
