Alright, my car runs great most of the time. Here's my problem: If I leave the line hard (overdrive off), when I hit around 5100 rpm my car sounds as if it's bogging down and I lose power until it shifts. Also, I've been told that my exhaust smells like rotten eggs when this happens. Am I running too rich, just need new plugs and wires, or is it something more serious? Right now I only have Apex'i exhaust, CAI, and other basics so what is causing it? My car is a '99 with 56K miles, I've ordered the plugs and wires and was just waiting until my 60K tuneup to put them on. This really concerns me so someone please help me!

The rotten egg smell is uaually due to a clogged or dead/dying catalytic converter. Replace it with a high flow unit, and you'll probably solve those problems.

What was this about a... um... cat? Why do you want a furry animal in the middle of your exhaust? I think that piping would work better. I mean, just try clogging a test pipe... ;-)

yea, but try and pass emissions test w/o the cat...i dont think it will work.

We have a pretty strict emissions here in Maryland and I know several people who have passed the tests with their cats punched. I know our system isn't as extensive as the California emissions but I'm going to try the old laying a $20.00 bill on the dash anyway. My uncle tried this on a work truck of his that didn't the first time but when he went back and tried the 20 trick it went right through!!!
