23194, lean/rich fuel mixture...... Posted by phatridedoin140, May-15-02 01:55 PM
i have a 95 talon esi with the 420a engine in it.... i keep have a lean fuel mixture code coming up when i do the key dance.... i just can't figure it out cause i have replace all the fuel system componets other than a fuel rail and regulator.... and yet i do notice a really bad hesitation at wot... is there a way i can adjust my car to run rich or lean manually i just can't figure it out and it's really annoying me...

It could be an O2 sensor I know mine hesitated real bad and gave a lean code when it went out. Hope that helps.

ok what and where is the 02 sensor and how do you change it? Anyone have a pic of the 02 sensor? Is it the thing that just hanging there between the heatshield and intake?

One of them is screwed into the exhaust pipe that comes down from the stock header. If you jack the car up, and look under it, you'll see what looks like a wire going into the side of the downpipe. That's the front O2 sensor if I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still learning this stuff myself). I heard theres one in the back of the exhaust as well, but I'm not sure where that one is. Either way though, they unscrew out of the pipe, but I heard that there hard to get off. I think aftermarket O2 sensors run about $70-$90.

The rear o2 sensor is in the pipe not far behind the cat conv. It is a bitch to unscrew if you cant get good leverage on it. My was on ramps and I couldn't get the sensor off with the pipe mounting loose(I was installing cat back) I had too remount the the pipe before I could get the leverage needed plus lots of liquid wrench. Good luck
