23149, Hose coming from intake?? Posted by REV_GSlow, May-15-02 07:27 AM
I was wondering what the black hose that runs from my exhaust pipe and connects to my intake does? Does it matter if it is hooked up, or even disconnected? I have it plugged at the moment. TIA

It's really useless. I believe there was a recall to take that part out. It's only on 95's M/T and some 96's. I just diconnected the hoses when I put my new exhaust manifold on and kept the selenoid connected and just zip tied it up out of the way. I believe it was to help you car warm up quicker. whatever it was for you dont need it at all.

That thing is a breather.. it returns unused air from the manifold back into the intake pipe so it can go back again into the engine.
You can vent it to atmosphere if you want. Go to pepboys and buy a cheapo breather filter (from APC) so that dust and other crap doesn't get into your intake mani. =)

NO thats not what he is talking about, its a pulsed secondary air injection system it injects fresh air upstream of the cat only before coolant temps are normal (cold startups etc) there is a recall to remove the system, but dont worry bout it
